    Why has no one mentioned that stupid bug where your abilities are out of synch with the timers by up to 15 seconds? I can pop a 30 second recast ability, have it display as 15 afterwards and not know when I can recast it because for the final 15 seconds it says I can use it when in fact I can't.

    That's not "dumbing down", that's called "making it more convenient and efficient to use".

    I have never had this problem after beta. Maybe its a latency problem?

    it is speculation, i admit, but it also follows logical reasoning,
    somebodies going to end up healer, (speculation, but highly likely i think we can agree)
    and somebodies skills are going to be adjusted so they can better fit predifined roles, (this isnt supposition, they have mentioned it in multiple letters now)
    So the questions one must look at to figure out the chances of this occuring

    1) is one of the predifined roles going to be a healer
    2) are predefined roles going to be linked to one class
    a. Well in another thread someone pointed out they said that jobs will offer specialization but be limited in skill you can equip from OTHER classes. this supports the idea that it will be linked to one class primarily

    so essentially, IF one of the predefined roles is going to be healer, and roles are going to be linked to one class, then that class will get reworked to better apply that specialization. Not only that but i think we can agree that whatever that class unlocks is going to be thought of as the main role of that class in parties.

    So while i am speculating, and i could be wrong if the stuff that i said is likely to be true, if in fact is true, it is really unlikely that the results will differ much

    Some ways around this,
    is if they have jobs linked to multiple classes,
    Job role substantially changes the style of play of the class, then maybe a non job equipped class can do a different role
    or if a class has links to multiple roles, (IE con can be black mage or whm and thaum can be time mage or oracle)
    or any combination of the above

    I wouldnt mind if the job system ends up being linked multiple ways, or an unecassary specilaty that doesnt make a class become the job, but since i think they want to make things simpler, they will prolly not go that route.

    Looks like they are thinking about dumbing it down and making it able to be done while moving
    It definitely adds strategy and skill to it, rather than take it away. Hopefully this would indicate a removal of animation locks as well.

    Convienece and effeciency are two different things. I think the original mechanic they were trying to create with active and passive was setting up a difference between fighting, and not fighting something, and associating costs and bonuses with each case. While it definitely makes it more convienent, if that was the goal, it will in fact be less effecient at making people choose between the two, and blurring the bonuses and costs associated with each action.

    For example, the fact that its generally more beneficial for a caster to have his weapon out, because its less time lost in doing actions, if he takes 3 seconds to draw and put away his weapon, or, that if i want to change my abilities mid battle, i will lose about 6 seconds even if i had a macro. As well as the fact that if i want to run from a monster i have to pause to put away my weapon, making escape less easy/guaranteed, All of these things were part of the goals of active/passive as it was, and lowering the speed, and allowing it to be done in motion makes it less effecient at dealing with these issues.

    Now with the new system, and auto attack, these things may need to be re examined, or maybe they have decided that these things arent that important, and will make the game more fun, but it is going to "dumb down" the effect of having to choose between active and passive modes.

    I'm just talking about removing the forced stop when running, and reducing the lag between active mode and passive mode.

    i am a little confused overall... according to SE, the first big update is coming in mid june, with a ton of changes coming this summer.. 90% of these answers are "we will look into it" or "stamnia gauge is being removed"...what exactly have they done/been doing??
