Sounds good to me, I can't wait to see it in action.
OK since we're discussing, here's a question - when we unlock a job I'm gonna assume we start at R1, you guys think there are plans for party content at R10 say or do we have to solo that job to R30 before we can engage in any party play?
I read the letter and it makes me excited for the game, but what they're basically doing is splitting up party and solo content, wouldn't that render classes useless for many situations ASIDE from strict party content? for example, I'd assume they will adjust leve mobs and behest mobs, making them more strategy filled - that would mean that players using classes would need to switch to a job to partake in the events...this would make classes only usefull for soloing overworld mobs? why didn't they just get rid of classes altogether in this case? of course I'm only making assumptions so please no one jump all over me because I just woke up and quite honestly I don't feel like arguing.
I don't think jobs will have ranks. The classes will have ranks, jobs are just a specialization much like a talent tree, but it seems from the description of it, we won't have control over the talents, just the job we choose.
As far as how classes/jobs will intermingle with content, jobs will strictly be for team-related content a la Dungeons and the like. Which makes sense, you're out in the world just adventuring randomly but when you're dedicated to a specific task you're going to want to excel at it, and the best way to do this is by having your basic archetypes (Tank, Healer, Ranged, Melee) available without any worry of cross-class ability swapping and gimped skills.

I think you're partly correct, except that we will have control over the abilities we equip. Rather than rank up to gain abilities, we undertake quests.
While playing as a particular job will render you unable to equip certain actions of other classes, you will be compensated with access to exclusive actions, which can be acquired through quests.
This is sounding more and more like a Job Title System. Not that it's a bad thing, but a lot of us were not expecting that. Some of us were, though, as it would be the easiest and fastest way to implement traditional Final Fantasy jobs.Originally Posted by Akihiko_Matsui

There is already party content at Rank 1. Leves and Grind Partys level you up 4-5xs faster then soloing at these levels. Leves literally get you over 1500sp a kill if you triple link them, over 2000 if you only have 4 people with triple links.OK since we're discussing, here's a question - when we unlock a job I'm gonna assume we start at R1, you guys think there are plans for party content at R10 say or do we have to solo that job to R30 before we can engage in any party play?

So like the rest of the game solo/party play is your choice from the start.
As for dungeon content as it stands you have to wait until midgame to do it.
Whether or not the content is like XI where you start at rank 1 again, or it is like a specialization of a current is yet to be seen.
Nah, that means, I will for the funs sake just Zerg-Rush every mob and you will bitch about it till SE do actually something about it ^^OK since we're discussing, here's a question - when we unlock a job I'm gonna assume we start at R1, you guys think there are plans for party content at R10 say or do we have to solo that job to R30 before we can engage in any party play?

j/k about me zerging, but i see some people doing so. I for sure know i won't be for most of time trash my hands in some kind of a tactics... i hate tactical jrpg's, i love turn based and action jrpg on the other hand ^^ so I'll just slice with my axe if someone like it or not.
Anyway one thing, it's not that I'm unhappy or somethingI'm just a little at lose and want to see how it will play in action.
BTw. Since they are implementing Final Fantasy jobs, i want Soldier D:<
