As for the being unable to move when attacking thing, I see that more as a problem than as a strategy. Especially since my character usually only execute my attack 3-4 seconds after I have pressed the button. Usually it will go like this, I press attack, I see Peiste ready breath weaponskill, i try to move behind Peiste, but alas the attack I asked for 5 seconds ago had just start, locking me in place and I get hit by Peiste's weaponskill.

Actually this game doesn't have much timing of skill at all, I mean, if I see another player use a WS, then I use my WS, timed it right, do I get a skillchain? In this game, I see a mob readying weaponskill, try to stun it with leg sweep, I get "You cannot perform that action right now", then I see a normal attack I ask for 5 seconds ago goes off. In FFXI I see a mob casting -aga III magic, I press my macro for Tachi: Gekko (Or Blade Bash), went off right away, mob stop casting.

So I do believe the addition of Auto-Attack and the removal of the need to contantly press on Attack will make it much more convenient for me to choose and use the right ability at the appropriate time to counteract whatever a mob is doing. Not like right now, where when I want to use an ability in mitigate a mob's attack I am informed that as I've already chosen to attack normally, I will have to wait until that goes off first, at which time it will usually already be too late to do anything.

Like I said before, startegy and skill is in choosing the right ability to use and when to use them. Pressing a button to execute a "skill" that have to be constantly use whatever the situation, whatever the mob is doing, add noting to strategy at all.

(as a side note, Cockatrice and Karakul, the mobs you were refering to, people don't fight them, not because the SP cap make them fight low level mob, not because they are hard, but because they are very annoying. I have soloed Cockatrice as early as when I was an R33 Pugilist, as my friend want the feather, I've also fight Karakul for it's skin. Having an SP cap doesn't stop people from fighting high level mob, just make them wait a little longer, after all a star marmot stop giving SP when your rank is too high. And fighting high level mob as an R33 or R45 doesn't stop them from using those ability they have.

And they are not much harder than other mob, but they like to sleep you, which make fights more annoying. I don't mind the wind damage, but I hate having to wait for him to charge it up. They also share spawn with Puk and Antelope, making exping off them unfeasible. You should try fighting Little Apkallu, south east from Bloodshore, those guys are even more "Fun" as they will sleep you and run away to rest their HP back, not any harder to kill, but depending on luck, might take a while longer.

What I want to say is, those ability doesn't make them harder, just more annoying. Kinda like not having Auto Attack really.)
you sure the delay in you executing attacks isnt related to you spamming attacks? Ie running out of stamina or, mini queueing your attack before the other attack finishes? try this, dont press rapidly, relax, only press when you need to press an attack, you get no advantage for inputing attacks rapidly, stamina will just be depleted faster.

I could be wrong on the reason, it may be graphics or lag related, but im east coast USA, and i getc reactionary skills off (if you arent spamming during an evade you can get two off of one dodge, sucessfully dodge Weapon skills, etc when im playing carefully. when i go sspeed crazy, which i sometimes do, i end up getting hit more and am more likely to miss an evade or feint, etc, im fairly sure this is by design, at least on pug.

LMAO I think you are a bit late to be making this thread, the new battle system is designed around auto attack, are you seriously suggesting they throw all that work in the garbage.

    Nice try but no.

Auto attack is fine if its done correctly, saying that I have little faith that SE will implement it very well but I guess we will see.

WoW uses auto attack and is just fine, nobody can sit there and do "F all" unless they want to be kicked from a party.

i just wish their was a way to turn it on/off that's the main reason i fall away from games is the battle is to boring u click the target then wait and every once in awhile hit a skill or 2 so i hope that since it is here that they do a good job at spicing it up *fingers crossed*

The problem with the current system is the need for TP to use other abilities. If all those abilities were available from the start and placed on a cool down there wouldn't be need for an auto attack.

But currently you play dance dance revolution with this battle system and you know what. IT IS NOT FUN FOR ME! and it's not fun for many other people.

And for those of you thinking that all you will do is watch the battle progress while you do nothing else....GET A CLUE! you will have input on other aspects for the battle, you just let your auto attacks take place of your TP gaining abilities. You have control of everything else.

Im guessing you re one of the people who want less direct input in battle, and more simulation style play, where you tell it to do something once in awhile? maybe write some timed macros. Thats fine for you, i can understand your need, i seriously hope you never get your way though, i find simulation rts style combat with only control of one player to be intensely boring. Auto- attack is coming, but i still want to be fairly involved in combat.

They really need to make two play modes, because the simulation style people and the manual descison people will never see eye to eye.

LNC50 here. No it wont. Auto Attack never hurt my BLU in FFXI either, and that was a far more involving job.
