The network setup of FFXIV is a joke and the lack of feedback from SE regarding this issue is insulting to their paying customers.

The same thing happen to most of my friends and me. I have 69 ms ping to server without ping spikes, while I am constantly lagging 2 to 10 sec at times.

Are you on Japan or NA/EU server? If it's NA/EU--wrong IP. That is a JP server. The ones in Canada start with 199.The same thing happen to most of my friends and me. I have 69 ms ping to server without ping spikes, while I am constantly lagging 2 to 10 sec at times.

I am on Aegis JP server.
don't you guys get it without the lag this game would be too easy the lag is there death mechanic for all instances HAHAHA.
last month i'am paying for this game they are so far away from a polished game
people who are saying wait I ask "how long" and from what im reading in some of the posts it almost sounds like the lag might be a coding issue if that's the case you guys are gonna be waiting a really long time for a lag fix.
If they wanna make this game great hire back the old team who did ffxi

I play from middle east .. i Played WoW US .. didnt have that much lag as i find in FFXIV .. i believe this 2 cases have same theory
but blizzard know how to make good connection to their games. and seems like Square enix .. focus in graphics and forget hell out of the connection
I have also started using WTFast, first time ever I have to use a service like that. I read about it here on the forums a few weeks ago and gave it a try. After 2 weeks I was sold. The difference is amazing. Without it I have the same stupid lag everyone else experiences. I was barely able to get out of any AE. With WTFast I have no lag and AEs are actually managable.Raist, I appreciate your dedicated, and you thorough response, but the fact is, the community has done its due dilligence in reporting these issues to their ISP and to Square Enix. Square is still dropping the ball. They obviously have not communicated with this ISPs to change anything. World of Warcraft had similar issues many many years ago, but Blizzard took care of it, and informed the community.
We just want a response. For the average person, none of this should be a concern. They should be able to log in, and play. I have never seen so many people complain about the same exact issue in the same game. I'm well aware that the issue does not all stem from Square Enix and it's servers, but not only are they part of the problem, they are the ones getting our money to ensure the game works, and they have the responsibility to fix it. Not only that, they have 140 pages of information to work with of user reports, and we have still heard nothing.
With that being said, I have used WTFast on a trial period, and I have seen a large increase in performance with FF14. I shouldn't HAVE to use it, but I do on this game, and this game only. Maybe this will work for some people who are having issues. The lag isn't perfect, but much better than what it was before I started using it.
It's disappointing that I have to rely on additional services (10$ per month!) to be able to play but at least now I can play.
It also shows that it's not the servers or data centers that cause the lag. It's ISP / routing related. Maybe they have just chosen a bad ISP / location for their servers that gives many people (like me) a bad routing. My normal routing without WTFast gives me anywhere between 150 and 350 ms depending on time of day, but usually accompanied with massive packet loss. With WTFast on the other hand I get 115ms consistently with no packet loss.
Edit: I play on EU server from Germany. ISP is Telekom.

i agree, ive been noticing more and more lag every week, at first it use to be just aoe lag but now im seeing other players completely stopping for a few seconds then tp to where they are meant to be when they are traveling, even sometimes when i use a skill in a larger fate it wont register for a few seconds. At first i thought it was me when i updated my routers firmware and everything and was going crazy and reverting it, glad its not just me going crazy.
is this a proper post? or a clever and devious rmtI have also started using WTFast, first time ever I have to use a service like that.
