I prefer playing a crappy game(Not that ff14 is ugly :P ) with a bunch of my crazy friends over a beautiful game alone. I played WoW for over 5+ years and what finally cut it off for me was the group of friends I used to play with broke apart and moved on to other things in their lives. I think if we give this game time it'll be awesome. Until then I'm going to go fish and chat with friends via LinkShell :P
the game is not brand new, its 3 years old, already failed once and is on its way to its second failure!! trust me 2.1 isnt going to save this game, the content is obsolete!

edit: oh and im not willing to pay a sub for a ff14 chat room!
