Is this supposed to fix something? Make you suddenly want to skip a premade group and dive into the horror that is Duty Finder? I only see this causing so many more problems than before. Makes me wonder if any of the people coming up with these "solutions" actually play the game or its just a bunch of guys in suits around a conference table thinking of new and interesting ways to torture us.
I like how everyone here assumes Tanks and Healers will always get the MVP when there are plenty of shitty players playing both roles. As a professional PLD, I'll glady give my MVP vote to a worthy DD over a shitty healer and I would encourage everyone else to do the same.
If you have a good tank or healer that earned MVP, then they earned it just like anyone else.
If you have a poor tank or healer, then you are not obligated to give them your vote.
If the party was all around good, then it is up to your own judgement who to vote for, if anyone.
There are plenty of crap tanks and healers that you can pass over voting on to give the DD their dues.
Welp, guess I better work on a boss explanation macro for every boss that needs one.
XI: Zeroblade, Titan Server
This is not entirely true for some cases. I recently did an AK run w/ a very geared monk. Thanks to his dmg, we were able to drop demon wall at the half-way point. His damage was also extremely high on the last boss, allowing us to make the kill before the 3rd statue spawned.
The heal and tank did their part, but the run went by fast with the monk in group. If the system existed during that run, I'd cast my vote for him, and I'm sure the healer and tank would as well.
This sounds like a wasted effort in my opinion, but whatever. I don't know why so many are assuming tanks and healers will get MVP. I see so many bad players on every role, especially tanks. I always cringe when I get a paladin, but I digress.
I do notice that random bard that sings when I'm low on mp, or that black mage who knows how to aoe. (Also sleep when necessary.) Plus those summoners who res, so I can focus on tank, and everyone else. Also appreciate when melee dps mark adds when the tank doesn't feel the need to. I also notice when they don't, but I can already tell I'll be voting for dps the majority of the time.
In other games forums the MVP, was really the suck up that was the goody goody that didn't contribute at all really and instead was a lacky snitch to the mods. It really wasn't anybody who was a public figure, only newer players looked up to them because they were different. And MVP was always the "follow the rules guys" type of person.
Screw that rules are meant to be broken.
I nominate GoldCEO for MVP, for his actions in determining flaws in the current system.
The problem is the rudeness in DF random parties experienced through the matching system and that is what the devs are trying to discourage by motivating good behavior through rewards systems and a number of other party preference settings that they are adding for aiding communication. Also they said previously that they cannot allow self voting in premade parties because...it would allow players to abuse the system and just vote for themselves.Oh right, lol. I actually remember reading that now. The level of fail must be so high I passively forgot it. It's very encouraging to know that those of us who make our own parties will be blocked out of getting content in the game only obtainable via MVP. Quality system.![]()
