As an avid mage player, I have to agree that these classes need to be seriously reworked. For one, it bugs me that we're playing a Final Fantasy game, and there is no Black Mage. Considering any player worth doing end-game content with will probably want to min/max their efficiency, it doesn't make sense to have the magic damage class be able to heal. If we had a party with one of every single class in the game, we would have two healers. It wouldn't make any sense to cast an offensive spell, as that mana would be better put to use healing. It sucks, but that's the elitist reality at this point. So for all of the conjurers who picked up the class to play as a Black Mage... they won't get to do that when content is finally available.

I really don't get why everyone is so against splitting up the mages. It's an obvious solution. All of the classes lack definition at this point, so I really feel like this needs to be done. Otherwise, we'll have no dedicated healer, and no defined offensive casters. Most of the Conj I bump into seem to be under the impression that they are Black Mages with buffs/heals. The reality is that they are healers who have some toys to solo with.

The funny part about this, is I don't even want to be a Black Mage. I want to be a White Mage! As it stands, THM, (which is basically Red Mage, but devoid of any spells that are worth anything), is still a better healer. I'd love to see Sacrifice broken into Cure and Regen....

And can we make buffs last longer than 5 minutes?

Sorry, for getting off topic.... But yes. We need the classes to be reworked. I know a lot of people feel like changing the classes would make what time they've spent wasted. But the fact of the matter is if we cling to a system that is broken, then it's never going to get fixed. I'd honestly rather re-start the game at Rank 1 if the game was working properly, the classes were clearly defined, stats were worth a crap, and they got rid of that mentally disabled fatigue system.
