Remember that time I wrote a condescending post about how SE treats graphical related things and then an official post totally invalidated it and proved me wrong, that was a good day.

Then what they need to do is create two models using the existing body (just separate the helm, which would take very little time), make the helmet have 0 stats, give the body all stats it has now, and add a bit of code to tell the game that only the DL helm can be equipped with the body.Except, it's the correct logic. That's the reason why it doesn't work. The /visor command and the headgear toggle specifically reference the head slot. It is for this reason (among others) that it doesn't work. You have to realize that every exception and special case you create increases the complexity of the underlying script.
It looks like Jousting Plate from the late middle ages people...It is ugly, You look at the awesome healmets and stuff the Garleans had, and then you have this DL stuff that looks thrown together, bland and ugly. Aesthetically it is poor. Just that awful duck beak headpiece with no spice or interesting aspect. Like the front of a fullfaced Celeta was pulled out at the nose.
also note the immobility of the head on those ACTUAL pieces of armor...
Just get Valor headgear and Hoplite armor, better than DL together anyway.
Felt the need to point out that they've already said that because of the way the armor is designed none of your character is rendered underneath so you can't just turn off the display. People really need to stop shouting doomsday about ps3 crap. I play on PC and find this PS3 blame ridiculous.
I would like to point you to Eve Online, where not only has the entire art asset in the whole game been modified(quite heavily I may add), many have been multiple times, including complete model change.
Instead of modifying the existing armor, I'd like to see another armor set with equivalent stats that uses 5 pieces instead of 3. That would be a perfect solution, and have the benefit of allowing a bit more variation in player appearance within the same 'tier' of gear. You guys are trying to take a brick wall down with a wiffle bat. While I agree that Darklight body is atrocious by the helmet alone, the way the piece is designed to be a body slot, (while not impossible) it is difficult for developers to go back and code this in, especially with the giant grocery list of tasks they need to take on. Also if it is your main job as a PLD or WAR, you are likely out of the suit into AF2 or Allagan if you are going at a consistent pace.
The answer is obvious. It makes them VERY unhappy.
Last I checked you don't NEED to turn your head when jousting, you're both riding straight at eachother. In hand-to-hand combat all an enemy would need to do is run at you from the side to knock you over, then laugh while you roll around on your back like a turtle.

While I absolutely hate the fact that you can't remove the helmet and your character can't turn their head, what I really dislike is the fact that there is no i70 alternative which isn't a heavy armour set (heavy darksteel is also a combo chest + helm). If a healer or caster dislikes their combo robe, they have the option to farm philo tomes for the materials to craft their vanya robe and hat. Similarly, when it comes time to upgrade, a healer or caster can get their af2/allagan chest and craft the i70 vanya hat as a placeholder until they get their i90 hat. PLDs/WARs on the other hand need to temporarily downgrade their helmet which is poor planning regarding tank gear progression.
Right now, I have an Allagan chest and I'm using my old hq militia helm until I can get the myth tomes for my af2 helmet. Unfortunately after this week's tomes I'll be short something silly like 26 tomes, so I'll get it next week. If there was an i70 helm available I could farm the philo in a day or two.
Its the entry level raid gear, its not supposed to look stupid good, just better than the stuff before it. And yes I know that is subjective.
