Fun fact, it was. Also WoW lasted a lot longer leveling wise and gearing up to even get into MC. Where as FFXIV you could level and gear up in a week and walk into Coil.

I wouldn't really say it lasted much longer, most MC bosses were killed in January of 2005 which is about 1-2 month after release. Ragnaros was the only exception being 4-5 months after release and I think that had to do with farming a full FR set was a nightmare at the time.
