Oh yeah, this is a great place as wellMy post had serious intent. At least until PvP comes out, I find it a great place to just hang out and craft. There's a summoning bell there, so you can sell the stuff you make without leaving the area. It's as good as the inn room + you can craft + use delivery moogle. The cost to teleport from the Den to Limsa isn't that bad either. (to get to the market board to check current prices) and it's even a Sanctuary

Excuse me while I be a shallow sexist douche, but I miss my Miqote's ass... *sigh*
Old Coerthas theme reminds me of FFX for some reason....it sounds beautiful and I don't like most of 1.0's music. Wow...<3
The new Coerthas is annoying as Jesus hell. The dark gothic BS Organ shit drives me up all the wall.
This music should of stayed.
As the Candy Crush guy says: Divine.
xD
I was from Hyperion too, but I decided to start fresh with a new character on a new server. Why do you miss your goobbue? Did you start over?

I honestly liked 1.23 far, far more than ARR.
- Large, seamless open world
- Crafting systems that were actually important to character progression and economy
- Weighty character animations
- Greatly preferred the combat
- Much larger focus on grouping and group content. All of the job quests required grouping
- Armory system was far more competently utilized, with reasons to sub certain skills over others and validity to classes at endgame over jobs (class exclusive equipment and decent class exclusive skill combinations [AoE Sanguine Rite on THM anyone?)
- Gear was much more unique with interesting traits. Moogle weapons had high ACC and HP/MP regen on hit. AF gear had skill traits like 'Increased Jump'. There were multiple ways to gear the same job (I had three completely different sets for PLD that were all useful in different situations)
And sadly you can't just say 'lol go play 1.0 then' because, well. Kind of stuck with this game. I would have left already but my IRL firends play it and I have two years worth of time and money investment into my 1.0 character. If they brought 1.0 back I would drop this game in an instant
How did you even play version 1 for more than a few hours without logging off and chucking the box/case in the garbage?
I wasted $90 on that steaming pile of crap's collectors edition, and was absolutely horrified, astonished and angry that this was where my money went.
I'd never in my entire life payed for a game that was so bad, till then.
To me your thoughts and opinions are rather meaningless if you actually thought version 1 was anything other than absolute trash.
I wouldn't know.
I wasn't willing to give it another shot till after even the dev's where fired for there ineptness and the game was restarted almost from scratch.

No one would argue that 1.0 was anywhere near playable at launch. People talking fondly about it are meaning 1.17-1.23How did you even play version 1 for more than a few hours without logging off and chucking the box/case in the garbage?

Well, the thread was about what we missed, and even in the release version there were elements of the game people miss now. It's no big news that 1.0 was poor, but there were enough people sticking with it that ARR was even made. The thing is 1.0 was a big bag of unrealized potential. To be completely honest, I'd have preferred to have played a game that realized that potential over what ARR turned out to be, but ARR is what we got and it is fine so I'm not really complaining.
You are on some kind of drug, and it's working good.I don't know how people could love the old animations so much. They don't feel "beautiful" or "crisp"- they felt clunky and clumsy, like my character was going to trip over his own shoelaces. The current animations are far better than any of the 1.0 fanatics will give credit for.
The animations in 1.0 were so fluid, life-like, and felt like you were actually doing something. I can't tell you how many times I felt my character go in for that doomspike and seeing it do as much damage as it did, or seeing my warrior wind up for that whirlwind. Even running around, your character felt like an actual person, and not the robots they feel like now. I understand to each his own, but dayummm not on this one. Sorry :P
I miss 1.0 Thanalan, after the sandstorm. Then the sky is just sooo blue, and you can see for miles, and it's breathtaking.
