I wonder if ping really has anything to do with it because I see Japanese players in the duty finder missing aoes worse than I do sometimes. This issue and the way endgame is designed in general is making me start to look for other games to play. It's a good thing for Square-Enix they have a while to fix it before I'm gone.

Latency contributes to this problem but it also does so for all online games, what makes FFXIV stand out is the extremely long intervals in which the server seems to poll client actions (we are guessing around 300ms) or perhaps it's the total lack of any predictive network algorithms, as SE refuses to comment at all about the situation it leaves us players speculating about the exact nature of the problem. It also leaves us speculating as well as whether or not it is worth it to resubscribe.
