    Personally i only experience issues when i have Problems on my End, such as having Vids running, penetrating my RAM or my ISP is acting up. Beside that it is fine for me and i am sitting at 190ms Ping, so yeah i really do not get most complaints, unless most people here sit at 250ms+.

    But beside that, the latency was WAY WORSE in Beta and SE spoke up and "fixed" it and actually Yoshi himself gave a response to it. So, for those are not able to find it by themself and still spreading nonsense about how SE does not respond:

    ■Area Attacks and Latency Issues■ Producer and director Yoshi-P here. Thank you for all of your feedback on latency issues and the evasion of enemy attacks. As we continue working to address these issues in time for phase 4 and release, I'd like to inform you all of the current situation.
    This post will focus on area attacks that are difficult to evade, or still connect even if you appear to have avoided it.
    Damage taken when Ifrit uses Eruption.
    When Ifrit used eruption in phase 3, the animation had a momentary build-up before the explosion. Because of this momentary buildup, there was a slight delay between the server's check and the explosion. This has already been corrected for phase 4 and release.

    1. Registering Player Damage
    In phase 3, when judging whether a character was standing in an attack's area of impact, your position was checked using a circle around your character to represent the space your character stands in.

    Furthermore, to keep the different races balanced, the radius of this circle was the same for all characters. Because of this, even if you appeared to have barely escaped the area of effect, a portion of the circle was still within range. This created the illusion that you barely evaded attack, with varying results depending on your race. For phase 4 and release, this circle has been reduced to a single point at the center of where your character is standing to more accurately determine your position.
    1. Enemy Progress Bars and Area of Impact
    Being an online game, there will always be a minimal delay when input is received from the player and sent back after being processed by the server. In FFXIV: ARR, your position is checked by the server once every 0.3 seconds. This timing is synced and processed according to the servers to prevent lag between your input and what you see.
    During phase 3, however, this syncing did not take place due to stringent server checks that took place, causing lag between what you saw on the enemy progress bar and your character's positioning. As a result, even if you appeared to be outside the area of impact when the progress bar was filled, damage was still taken.
    Adjustments are being made to reduce lag as much as possible, and syncing should improve the timing between enemy cast bars, area of effect markers, and the actual attacks.
    Rest assured that we're doing what we can to make sure players can safely evade attacks by watching enemy cast bars and markers for area attacks.
    Players overseas were also affected by having to access the Japan data center in Version 1.0, as this further delayed the relay of data from the server. With the establishment of a regional data center and the above measures being taken to improve syncing with the servers, we will continue working to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience for all of our players. (Even with a great connection, I think there's still maybe a 0.1 second margin of error with the cast bar, so make sure to get out of the way when playing with your party. )

    That thing from Yoshi has been posted and acknowledged in the thread already. The problem is it hasn't been fixed, and is being tip-toed around without a response. This has been known, snuck into the accepted bugs forum, a moderator closed this thread and labeled it as discussing end game, and we still didn't get a response regarding the latency as it stands now.

    I get the feeling you even know that it's not fixed based on the "the latency was way worse in beta" comment. Which I'm taking to mean it's still noticeable (extremely noticeable), but since it's not as bad as before, it's already been addressed. What really happened, was they put a bandaid on the problem, they didn't fix it. In that same address from Yoshi, he says, "Rest assured that we're doing what we can to make sure players can safely evade attacks by watching enemy cast bars and markers for area attacks."

    The .1 second margin of error is on "great connections". I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I know if I go to cancel a cast, it definitely takes more than .1 seconds for it to cancel. Additionally, most people playing this game aren't going to have "great connections" to servers in Canada, especially from across the ocean. So that .1 second margin suddenly got a whole lot bigger. When you have fights that are heavy on immediately getting out of aoes, that's a major problem for a large part of your player base. People can't safely evade attacks be relying on on-screen indicators (cast bars and markers for area attacks).

    I personally don't have issues dodging most aoe's. I can be out of them 90% of the time without getting hit. I've stated before that my FC is into Coil. However, I'm not going to sit here and deny it's a problem. It's a huge one, and probably one of the only things that could cripple this game if not fixed. I love this game otherwise, I don't want it to shut down.

    You have pretty much nailed my feelings about it as well. I love the game otherwise and SE could probably recover and keep this game open for the next 10 years just as they said they'd like to. However, every day that passes without anything is chipping away at my faith in this game and SE as whole.

    Well, overall I feel the deciding factor is if they release 2.1 without addressing this issue, if they don't the game will most likely be ridiculed and forgotten about by the community that prefers pvp to pve. So basically, they'd have spent the time and money developing pvp arenas/matchmaking/whatever that should in theory only end up highlighting the game's major flaw.

    A sad part of me wants PVP to come out sooner just to really -really- highlight how bad the issue actually is.

    I think as long as there are quite a few people (and there seem to be) that defend the lag as is because there are workarounds that work for them, or have the mentality of "it doesn't happen to me, so it's not a thing", it won't get fixed. I wish people could realize that just because maybe it doesn't happen to them, or they can work around it, doesn't mean it's a non-issue at all.
