    A thought crossed through my mind when the dots have an universal tick timer for everyone so does the position check also tick with universal timer.
    So player who do not experience this lag got lucky with the tick timer aligning perfectly with the abilities and timers shown on screen.

    Nope, we have responded to threads in the bugs & tech forums, example- http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...s-everybody%29 It was moved to accepted bugs, and we could no longer post on it. It got to 7 pages before being moved. They supposedly banned a few people for 10 days from the forums for making new threads in the bugs/tech forums about the lag, so now we just stick here.

    Still no developer response? Of any kind? Not even a "We realize this is an issue and are working on a resolution"? It's not like anyone expects this to be fixed overnight, but it would be nice for SE to at least acknowledge the issue.

    There's likely no resolution to this issue because it's clearly by design, given the fact that no other MMORPG plays similar to this. Either they're aware of this and think it's perfectly fine because it's by design, or that they're afraid of telling people the lag is by design. There's really no way to fix it short of giving another 0.5s or so on any ability that is too tight. If an ability is expected to be cleared with only say 0.3s to spare (like Weight if you didn't have a running start), you shouldn't have another 0.3s of lag because then there's no reliable way to clear it by skill alone.

    Does anyone remember these? They were from some beta test thread or something... this issue has been around.

    Moving into an AE is actually a pretty reliable way to avoid the AE because you can always count on the lag preventing you from succeeding. On Demon Wall I'm always moving in a way where I'm attempting to catch up to the last ground AE, but due to the inherent lag of this game, I know I will always be too late to get hit by the AE and thus ends up avoiding all the AEs! Too bad you can't always do that on every AE in the game.

    So you're compensating for a lack of responsiveness inherent in the game's client->server structure.

    That's a problem that needs to be fixed at best; and at worst horrible design.

    I'm not saying it's fine, I'm saying that it's so bad it actually works reliably in the other direction where applicable. Like you can actually try to walk into Demon Wall's AE at the last moment and you'll actually fail every time due to lag. Of course you can't possibly do that to Weight (no way there's enough time for you to run away from it and then attempt to return), but it's an illustration of how consistently laggy this game is.
