DD Nerfed

"Free ride", logging into the game is basically a free ride to 50. Doing any fate in the world and leveling off fates is a free ride, how is nerfing one single fate going to change anything?

It's not.

They should've hotfixed in a 400% leve and 600% dungeon + hunting log exp boost as well. That is dev time well spent, not nerfing something that can be done in hundreds of fate all over the world.

DD was by far the biggest abused fate because of the spawn rate and the exp per kill. I took my girlfriend through Northern Thanalan for her hunting logs and there were at least 50 people sitting where DD spawns waiting for it. They were still there 2 hours later as we passed by to leave the zone.

Leves are fine and dungeons are getting changed in the future, not like the fate farmers even do dungeons anyway.

Nerfing DD was a step in the right direction if you ask me, I'm very optimistic for future changes.

I call BS, or you just ran into a gathering of bots. For the last few weeks materia has been my main source of income, and I regularly partied up for DD. It is rare to see more than a handful of people waiting for it to pop, and they only go there after it's been at least 30 mins since the last pop. You said you've only done it once, and you griefed by killing the lambs so I already can tell that your eyes may have been playing tricks on you so you can "see what you want to see" regarding the fate.

That completing the objective is considered "griefing" illustrates why this change is welcome.

And to those saying the grind was slow enough already even with DD: are you serious? Because you can't be.

It is griefing when it is apparently obvious as to what you should be doing as per all the other people at the fate. I've never seen anyone cussed out for mistakenly killing a lamb, the few times I have been there while lambs were attacked people just shouted "please don't kill lambs, farm trash for xp," or rarely it was just someone griefing to get a rise. If someone is griefing, I, and many others just blist them and move on.

We aren't disagreeing, but you're pointing out why people should know better, and I'm pointing out why it's ridiculous to begin with.

Actually, there is one thing with which I disagree. PLENTY of people get cussed out, named-and-shamed for killing lambs because it's their first time in the zone and they don't know how the community pseudo-exploits it to get EXP. If they have a chat tab like I do to filter out any chat except party, LS, and FC, then they may not even be aware of the shouts telling them to stop. Then again, Ultros is known for shout drama apparently.

Edit: To Shiyo: I agree they need to make dungeons the best way to gain EXP, preferably through a combination of buffing dungeons some and nerfing fates some. When they designed the game I'm sure they set the difficulty of FATEs with WAY less people playing in mind (imagine if FATEs only attracted 1/2 the current amount of players. The EXP wouldn't be quite so ridiculous).

That being said, it really has nothing to do with this nerf except indirectly, in a they-should-have-spent-their-time-on-this-hotfix kind of way.

Filtering out shouts is ridiculously foolish, people should learn to blist faster if they have RMT woes. Bad behavior is bad behavior, griefing a fate by ending it early is the same as being the guy cussing someone out for an honest mistake and I would blist them both, as any mature person would. Avoiding conflict in game will take people far

You are really overestimating the value of shout chat. 95% of shout chat is fate parties LFM or faters LFG. The other 4.95% is inane babble. The .05% is instructions on how to maximize Fate-chain exp. RMT don't advertise outside of the cities on Ultros at least.

No, that isn't the same, unless you are talking about someone who knows what to do in DD, is already 50, and just does it to troll people FATEing. Yeah that's immature.

Edit to Mala: Yeah maybe Ultros is just extra toxic for some reason (I hesitate to blame the presence of large forum-based FC like GAF and ZAM). Allegedly there is a FC infamous for having members hang around just to troll DD.

The fact that a lot of people would rather sit there and wait for the FATE than playing says a lot about leveling in this game.

Doing battlecraft leves is a waste of allowances, and dungeons as damage dealer are unviable. Waiting in queues for 50+ mins, and then relying on luck to get a group good enough to finish it (yesterday I ran Stone Vigil 6 times, completed only one). Wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that to get gold medal you have to join a party, and Mor Dhona is horrible for FATEs as they are harder and often don't have enough people.

Personally I'm not one to complain as I enjoy doing FATEs, but I can see that nerfing DD creates more problems than solves for people who's interested in endgame.

Tell that to all the players who end up in a group with a player rocking whites because they DD FATE to 50 and never got better gear past level 40. Creates more problems than it solves...yeah right.
