As a certifiable financial genius, possibly, I predict that the prices of items will rise with this change.

Currently you need to mine up (if you don't burn leves) around 4,981.092:172'1000"761 ores to get 0.0000001% XP per level (note, figures may not be accurate), if you increase the XP you reduce the number of items required per level, so instead of grinding up 10 stacks of <item> per level, you may only need (assume a doubling of XP) 5 stacks, which means there are less stacks on the market, which means supply < demand which means prices increase.

Top down materials (gold ore etc.) will eventually see a decrease in price as more people hit 46+ faster so supply > demand so prices will drop.

The problem with your argument is that you're not accounting for the increased influx in miners/botanists due to the newer ease of leveling.

Most people already don't gather because it is, for the most part, boring as all hell. Also, I think many of you are over-estimating how much of an XP increase we are actually going to see. I seriously doubt it will be "doubled" for each swing. If so, then it will most likely make the market prices raise even higher for low-mid tier gathers.

People aren't not leveling gathering classes because it takes forever to hit 50, they aren't doing it because they see no fun in it. There are other viable options for a 50 to make money (such as spirit bonding high level gear and selling materia). A few extra XPs for each swing isn't going to entice thousands of people to pick up a saw or an axe and ZOMG to every node. What it's going to do, is cause the people who do want to gather, need less of each item on their way to 50. Once a gatherer hits 50, unless they totally skip leveling a combat class they have no reason to farm low level mats anymore, except for occasions of which they need them for a fledgling craft class they have just started. Soon, the market will be void of low-mid level items and over-saturated with the stuff you need at 45+. Then people like me, swoop in and make a killing off low level items for entry-level crafters who have no incentive to gather.

Markets are delicate, regardless of what type of xp increase they add. One day shard sell for 25/pc, the next they are going to 55/pc. Why? Because ONE crafter who just made 100-200k selling Undyed Velveteen ran out of lightning shards and bought 5000 of them from the market.

You are just plain insane if you think an extra 50xp/swing is going to make thousands of players become miners/botanists overnight. Maybe it will make more players start it, but the tedium of gathering in this game is not going to appeal to very many people and a lot will quit soon after they begin.

Now that's the biggest load of crock I have ever read on these forums. Please stop trying to assume how things work around here. If people see that mining/botany is easier, they will do it more often. That is the most common of senses and it is downright shameful that you can't see that.

    Lol.

The most common of senses? Please stop trying to sound smart when, in fact, you aren't. But that's fine. If you want to remain living in your fantasy world that with a few added xp, the grind of swinging a pickaxe all day is going to magically disappear, then by all means you keep that winning attitude!!

Stop licking the windows, though. People use those, for....looking....
