Stop Buying Titan Kills

I don't really mind people selling or buying titan wins given the average performance of a titan PUG group.

However, what disturb me a lot are people who ask for full DL + relic players to do trivial content (such as CM, praetorium or amdapor keep) or have a relic and don't DPS/heal as much as they should. Somehow it reminds me of GW2 and that makes me sad to see stuff like that in FFXIV.

On one hand, people say do the encounter and learn it! Right, agree. But on other hand if a player joins a group, fails a few times either to error, inexperience, or more than likely to lag then it's /kick.

I agree with this. But I think that there indeed is a better place to learn the fight other than PUGs: The Duty Finder.

At least, this is what I am doing myself: all PUGs ask for experience and I am not the kind of person able to lie on my own abilities. So I am running the event in DF, learning the mechanics, working towards a top notch equip (full DL with 2, nearly 3 iLV90 accessories and Ifrit Weapon) and when I'll feel I am ready to stand a chance in a proper group I'll /tell people shouting in Mor Dhona to group me. I think this is what everyone else should do. And of course, PUGs leaders should not kick people for a few mistakes and be patient.

I think the practice is deplorable more because the people who do this fix prices. Some pretty prominent people on Reddit got caught doing this.

Problem is Cm-Garuda really isn't that hard. Lots of DF groups will make it just fine, because the fights are easy. Titan is a whole nother ball game. Here is the down side to buying wins. Bob buys his win, his group says go die to a bomb, Bob is handed his relic. Bob sees a shout for Coil, he has his relic, he is surely good to go! Wrong. Players end up having zero to few Darklight items. They never learned the hard mechanics, they end up being horrible players.

I disagree, mechanically and by strategy, I find Garuda to be significantly harder than Titan. The actual Titan Fight is a joke compared to other bosses in the game; it is not hard by any standard. There is no moving to boss to avoid things, there are no adds to kill, no special aspects of the fight whatsoever. Dodge a lane AoE, Dodge hotspots on the floor, and run from bombs that appear in 3 specific patterns that are easily recognizable, and keep everyone healed up. It's really that simple. Now people come up with all their reasons for why it's "hard" but the fact of the matter is that it's not. As a tank the fight is painfully boring, having to sit through 10+ minutes of LB farm/rotation just to get to the heart phase and then lack the dps to kill the heart. Or have people die before the heart phase, or maybe we get there and everyone wipes afterward from WoL or bombs or something. It's infuriating in its own right.

Theres 2 kinds of people buying runs imo. The people who know the fight, can kill it, and don't ever die from anything but cannot pass it simply because everyone else isn't up to standard. And then the bad people who need to get carried. I think once the gearlock comes out, so long as Titan is a requirement of average iLv65 or iLv70 then things will improve. It will at very least cut out all the of the poorly geared people just trying to get carried through it and get a quick relic. Then parties will be limited to people who at the very least have the HP and DPS potential to win, and buying a run shouldn't be so seen as the "only way to win" for many.

someone buys the titan fight, gets their relic. ok done. one thing i dont understand, how is not knowing the specific scripted timing of one self contained boss fight that has no bearing on any other content in the game make a player bad?

that person still had to do cm, cp, chimera, hydra, ak, ifrit, garuda. but they are noobs right beacause everyone is selling those runs too ><

sorry if that comes off hostile but im tired of people saying that those that buy titan are horrible or lolrelicnoob.

A DPS can perfectly stand there doing nothing but /dance and still be carried through most of those...

That being said, I perfectly understand those that after 200+ tries decide to hire themselves a win, since it's a fight in which it does not matter how good you are, if you party is sub par there's nothing you can do..

Now, buying the win without even trying... That's a no no.

The problem is more that people have started failing Titan on purpose in order to get more people to buy a win. Needless to say, those who fail on purpose are in league with those selling the wins ..
