I find if strange(if not suspect) That the response to the corrosive behavior that can occur in PvP(harassment, racial slurs, stalking/defamation/hatemail) is to let it happen for the sake of "building a community." /airquotes It sounds like the kind of thing that defends bullying as "building character".

I'm pretty sure the animosity won't stay in PvP either, and the support desk would probably be relieved that the dev team is cutting off what would be future tickets at their deck with preventative actions.

I don't want to play a game where everyone is treated like a bunch of babies, the majority of your playerbase are over 20.. stop treating us like 10 year olds.
Even so, they are working on implementing a duty finder kick function because the community has requested it since a small portion of the community do indeed act like 10 year olds by being AFK, harassing, and otherwise causing trouble in random dungeons. That's just in a PvE setting, PvP will be worse.

this is what the gaming, and the world, has come to
everyone is so wise that they will decide what is good for others.
when you stop people from experiencing the world as it really is, all you're doing is delaying the inevitable and setting them up for a rude awakening.
let people fight argue and grow up
online gaming is not so serious that you have to start censoring things

My experience in pvp tells me harrasement occurs 95% of the timeWITHIN THE SAME GROUP as opposed to towards the opposing group, so this will serve little purpose. But, If they are really worried about any kind of harrasement, the pvp alias idea is the best way to go. I don't care if they name a bunch of NPC's fresh meat, but people are people.
For large scale battles this is a non issue, since you mostly be seeing huge groups and zergs, but for small group pvp this is a real turn-off. I really hope they change this.

I can't immagine any pvper agreeing with their stance.

Explain to me what is "Real" about people sending hatemail, RMT advertisements, and discrimination of others based on gaming skill? It's the developers world to make and if they want those elements discouraged then more power to them.

an uncensored mosh pit of a PVP scene isn't any more "Real", nor does it foster any sense of maturity.

I agree. The term "Fresh Meat" is kind of degrading in itself. The most simplest option would be either to show like if you were an immortal flame, have it show "Immortal Flame Paladin" or just put Claw Paladin or even just Paladin or whatever class your playing as. Fresh Meat just looks dumb to me. Also it SHOWS the names of all the players at the end of the battle anyways -_-

That's all well and good, but "Fresh Meat"? Really? That's the best anyone could come up with?

Except that the name and server of the player was shown at the end of the match.

They've already given us tools to do our own censoring. blist
You don't have to read hate mail
    You can blist RMT adverts
You can blist players harassing you

You don't think ppl can harass you when you have 'fresh meat' as a name? If everyone had the same name with the same exact char i assure you, you can still be harassed.

This Fresh Meat nonsense needs to go.

Does SE seriously need to slap people on the wrist to try to prevent harassment? Are we so soft skinned these days that if someone says that you suck and L2P that you're going to cry about it? Grow some skin. Besides that kid of stuff usually happens on the same team, plus it's PvP, if someone says something to you, kill them.

The people who are going to whine/be hurt over "harassment" don't belong in PvP anyway.
