It would not work in their favor. What kind of friend would ask a bunch of people on the same server to join another for one person, a legacy server at that. It would not work well for them at all.hey i'm not the one putting this limitations, I was just offering him a solution with the current situation. You don't have to be a **** just because you are on the internet you know?
are they really his friends and would they not go through with the server transfer to play with him? If they are, then problem solved; if not, then continue playing separately because I really don't give a rat's *** what you do or don't.

+1 The only reason why I'm on Ridill is because all the NA servers were down when I started playing the game, and Ridill was the ONLY server that was accepting new characterswhat about people who are on legacy servers who are not legacy players? cant be too hard to figure out who started in 1.0 and who started in ARR. only reason im the realm im on was because it was the first open one I found, with the plan to server transfer as soon as it opened up. if I knew about this, I would have chosen a different server
It surely can't be that hard to differentiate new players from 1.0 players right? Just set it so that any characters made prior to ARR full release will be unable to transfer and problem solved; no legacy players will be able to transfer and new players will still be happy.
My girlfriend and I ended up rolling characters on Balmung early on due to it being the only option available to create characters on. We started progressing in hopes that soon we'd be able to transfer to Gilgamesh with our friends and our guild. A couple of our other friends were thrown to Sargantanas for the same reason, despite wanting to be on the same server.
None of us are legacy players. My account has legacy status, but I created an entirely new character because I wanted to enjoy the experience with friends in hopes that despite the rocky release we'd be able to all transfer to a server together.
To learn that server transfers are being released soon, yet we won't be able to use them to our benefit is incredibly disheartening. None of my friends on Legacy servers chose nor wanted to play on Legacy servers, and yet we're stuck here until further notice. This is extremely disappointing, SE.

I agree the tone of her previous statement was uncalled for, but she's right anyway. Asking for all your friends to transfer (especially if they're happy on the current server), when the limitations shouldn't be there in the first place just seems unreasonable.hey i'm not the one putting this limitations, I was just offering him a solution with the current situation. One of the options not listed, in regards to why we picked a server is that we were filtered to certain servers during the cluster F that was the launch. People just want to get off of the Legacy servers that we were filtered into during beta and initial release.
Don't care what kind of limitations are put in place. Strip them naked, limit gil and items. Don't care. Items and gil can be regained, progress lost can not be regained. When I chose a server after release, it wasn't because I was all moist about the Famfrit server. I chose it because at the time, it was the only option as everything else was locked. I have people stuck on Hyperion who just want to get off of that server.
Please reconsider not allowing people from a legacy server to transfer to a new server. If there should be any limitation on that at all it should be for legacy players on legacy servers to new servers. As has been pointed out numerous times, people rolled on legacy servers because they were just looking for a place to play, waiting for the "mid-September" transfer so they could start playing with their friends finally. Now they can't?
As far as i'm concerned, you might as well as delete every character from every server, because now i can't play with my friends, THE ONLY REASON I BOUGHT THE GAME, for who knows how many months?
Ditto on this. I wasn't involved with the beta, was never offered a chance to transfer my character. I refuse to pay anything until i get to play with my friends. I am not re-rolling. There is literally no reason to have multiple characters in this game.
So since I'm not allowed to move to a new server, I will be bringing 8 friends to Hyperion.
Which SE doesn't want to happen.
Legacy members have friends too, SE!!!!!
Not sure if I misunderstood... but non legacy can transfer into legacy.
Legacy can only move to other legacy at the moment.
Right but when you have 10-12 friends you asked to play this game, joining some other server (Adamantoise for my example which is NA Non-Legacy) because character creation was locked down for a good deal of time on pretty much every other server, especially Excalibur, it seems silly to ask 10-12 to transfer to 1 rather than the 1 go to the 10-12. The 10-12 people may have created their FC, LS and got to know their community as a whole and then telling 10-12 people they have to transfer to me because I'm on Excalibur NA Legacy rather than having just me transfer over there is not a real solution.
I work as a data conversion programmer; I convert, transform and bulk transfer data daily. It boggles my mind that it is this difficult for them to pull a character record and anything the foreign key constraint for the character guid might touch from one db to another, legacy or not, or whatever way they're linking data together.
