worst idea. Trivialises pvp for me
worst idea. Trivialises pvp for me
I was looking forward to some competitive PvP and getting to know my opponents.Greetings,
As some of you have already mentioned, the reason why we have elected to display the names of your opponents as "Fresh Meat" is to prevent harassment from occurring. We feel this is an important aspect to address to create a fun and comfortable environment for everyone to enjoy PvP.
But NOPE..
This is pretty damn terrible.
gg SEWow, fresh meat? That is absolutely horrible, all the fun I had PVPing in vanilla WOW was due to the community aspect. I knew my enemies names, my allies names, I knew everyone, I knew who was good, I knew who was bad, I knew who acted like they were amazing and got stomped and we all took screenshots and posted on forums and talked trash and had a good time. We had a giant community of trash talking and competitiveness, It was so fun, not seeing anyone's name is complete garbage, I bet it's cross server too, right?
Pretty lame, the genre born on social interaction just gets more and more anti-social as time goes on.

Please at least make it an option to display your name during PvP. I want people to know if I kill them, and don't mind them knowing they've killed me. Maybe you're right, some would be easily offended by the ensuing griefing; but sorry, this isn't Wizard101 or Toontown. Most of us are grown-ups here.
Do professional athletes call themselves "fresh meat" when playing, to avoid being rated?
This, if it has to be done this way, give us a choice whether we want to display our own name, if we're willing to risk being "harrassed" that should be our choice to make. Please at least make it an option to display your name during PvP. Yet how much do you want to bet so much abuse and swearing and general vileness is going to be thrown around in pvp by the grown-ups. Not saying i agree with it pretty much indifferent about the whole thing really never cared about who i was facing i just always saw em as some random mook who was about to die. Please at least make it an option to display your name during PvP. I honestly feel this is part of the PvP culture. Hell, I find the people who would create characters on servers just to whisper you to be quite hilarious.Greetings,

With this "Fresh Meat" system in place, it wrongfully removes the identity of who you are fighting. We're supposed to be heroes fighting other heroes, not some random scrubs designated as pieces of fodder.

Keep it as an optional toggle and it's all good by me.
As much as I hate the idea, you can't blame them since there are 100 threads OMFG WIRST END GAME COMMUNITY EVAR. And that's about pve. PvP allows for people to be jerks/get butt hurt WAY more than pve.
Sucks but its true.
Really? are you serious right now?Greetings,

Square-Enix, stop trying to police this game and work on more important matters... we aren't a bunch of babies, this game is rated [T] for a reason. PvP is all about knowing your opponents and working up a reputation, PvPers want people to know who they are. Why should I PvP if there's no reputation to build?
First you disable Tells in dungeons because you think we are a bunch of children that can't play nice... now you do this?
"Yeah man I tried to beat this guy named XYZ and he was amazing... hope I don't come across him again, or maybe I should better myself and try to beat him next time"
now it's like
"yeah some dragoon wipped my ass.... some dragoon... that's all i know"
Disappointing news.
