Stats, Caps and Gear optimization for WAR.

From what I gathered you can get 12 of anything as long as the acc doesnt already have that stat, at the exception of DET which seems to be lower. But I'm not sure right now, I'll try to find some definitive answers.

The answer is 10 VIT, 12 Secondary stats.

Isn't it the ring with 6 vit +1 slashing, blunt and piercing resist... that would be 1% physical damage reduction( your base resistance is 100 the ring makes it 101 for each - or 1% damage reduction for each attack type)

If Slashing/Blunt/Pierce resist work like elemental resists or defense, it is not 1%. I would be shocked if they had the other 2 systems work one way, and Physical resist turned into a % Resist. Could be though, just not likely.

I can't log in to check right now, but I think blunt/slashing/pierce resists are set at 100 (where elementals go several times more than that), so it wouldn't surprise me if it did end up being that 1 resist for those 3 types ended up being 1% reduction. But I haven't seen any testing on that, so I'm not going to assume anything about how it works in practice.

Basically some smart people figured out that Physical damage dealt to your character is composed of all three types simultaneously. Why? Because they didn't want any classes to be weaker than any others, probably. That's why mobs also are not weak to any one type of damage. All damage equally and all deal damage equally....

Not only that but it's equal split on all damage. So it will be 33% Piercing, 33% Blunt and 33% Slashing on every physical hit you take. They pointed to your stats and said a bunch of stuff that's why you start out at 100/100/100 on your resistances because all physical damage is composed like this. But I didn't really undersatnd that part.

What I did understand is that each resistance addition you take is 1% off the TOTAL damage. not 1% off the percent of that one type of damage you take.

So if I get hit for 99 damage. 33 of that is slashing 33 of that is blunt and 33 of that is piercing.... -1 off of each of those means I only get hit by 96, not 99.

They had a big chart showing this off of their own testing showing that the 3% is off the total Physical damage. (Not 1% off the phys damage.)

Of course, you nerd-lvl 90s can calculate how much Effective HP that is, but I'll bet that's a lot more than I can get off 12 VIT. That's a bet I'll accept.

see that's what i thought, as every other HQ'd ilvl70 thing has the exact same primary stats as it's darklight counterpart, and they can't be increased at all through materia

tank chest has 36 vit whether you're looking at darklight or hq heavy darksteel, and that can't be increased by materia - 36 is the cap

so I'm curious why any tank would want a 10 vit ring when they could use the hero's/allagan ring and have 15 vit

maybe other people gear differently, but I focus on eHP as a tank

isn't a 15 vit ring better than a 10 vit ring? (even if the 10 vit thing has crit/det/skillspeed)

226 is not the end of the line for DEX. You are an IDIOT if you think that.

The 10 vit ring also has 9 STR and 9 DEX allowing you to hit your walls for mitigation. It is essentially, 5 Vit and 4 Parry ( for the i90 rings ), vs 9 str 9 dex 12 crit and a free materia slot for whatever.

The 10 vit ring is much more effective HP, despite being 5 HP lower ( roughly 95 health in defiance ), and provides some damage bonus as well.

You're already at 226, the little bit of extra DEX will achieve exactly NOTHING for you since it will not allow you to reach the next "wall" and climb it, like you like to say. This is effectively a worthless stat. I understand how it fucking works and you would know that if you read people instead of being a massive douche. Now, I mean it, you either calm the fuck down or GTFO, as you prefer, I'll ask for this thread to be shut down if not.
