    Basically some smart people figured out that Physical damage dealt to your character is composed of all three types simultaneously. Why? Because they didn't want any classes to be weaker than any others, probably. That's why mobs also are not weak to any one type of damage. All damage equally and all deal damage equally....

    Not only that but it's equal split on all damage. So it will be 33% Piercing, 33% Blunt and 33% Slashing on every physical hit you take. They pointed to your stats and said a bunch of stuff that's why you start out at 100/100/100 on your resistances because all physical damage is composed like this. But I didn't really undersatnd that part.

    What I did understand is that each resistance addition you take is 1% off the TOTAL damage. not 1% off the percent of that one type of damage you take.

    So if I get hit for 99 damage. 33 of that is slashing 33 of that is blunt and 33 of that is piercing.... -1 off of each of those means I only get hit by 96, not 99.

    They had a big chart showing this off of their own testing showing that the 3% is off the total Physical damage. (Not 1% off the phys damage.)

    Of course, you nerd-lvl 90s can calculate how much Effective HP that is, but I'll bet that's a lot more than I can get off 12 VIT. That's a bet I'll accept.
    Yea that really makes no sense... Why would it be that you take 33% of each damage type but then the resist would apply to 100% of the total damage for each damage type? I'd have to see some hard numbers to believe that... It seems, well, off - I'd like to see the post you are talking about if you can find it.
