I simply want to enjoy the content and the story that comes with it in it\\'s entirety, as it was intended. I\\'m playing a video game after all. I\\'m trying to enjoy myself. I\\'m at the climax of the story. I want to enjoy it thoroughly. That\\'s all it is. I\\'m sorry you don\\'t understand that.

I understand that there are plenty of people who have gone through the dungeon before and would wish to speed-run it. What I don\\'t understand is why they would choose to resort to Duty Finder out of any other method. It\\'s incredibly unreliable when it comes to them wanting to do something like that. There\\'s tons of people who hang out in Mor Dhona or other high-level areas trying to make speed-running groups for it. They can easily do the same. It doesn\\'t make sense for them to use Duty Finder expecting not to run into a first-timer and/or expect first-timers to ruin their own experience for the sake of a speed-run.

It\\'s as though the people who do that have forgotten completely that they\\'ve been a first-timer as well. I\\'m sure a large number of them didn\\'t choose to just skip through all of the mobs and story. Why would they? Why should I?

You missed his point entirely - he\\'s not saying you shouldn\\'t have the right to play the game the way you want, but rather that other people have just as much right to play the way they want.

Neither have any more "right" than the other to use the DF, it\\'s simply an in game tool to find players for certain contents. It is rather hypocritical to lament others for not respecting what you want when you are doing the exact same thing in return. Once you start with the "speed runners shouldn\\'t use DF" bit, you are no better than those same speed runners who decry first timers who decide to watch the cutscenes.

That's a good question. I could have made the decision to just stay and watch the cut-scenes in spite of what the person said, but I have to good reasons as to why I didn't.

1. The group was speed-running/bypassing all the mobs. There's no fun in that, so it wouldn't have been worth sticking around.

2. Trying to deal with that situation would have only served to make me upset, so I took myself out of it to prevent it. I'm still upset (hence why I made this thread), but far less than how I would have been if I had stayed.

3. Knowing where things are, how to do things in the future, requires you stick with the group. They will leave you behind, accuse you of "afking," and will even engage bosses without you there. This is problematic if you are just a "stupid dps" or even one of the tanks. But they've done this even when healers are attempting to immerse. The issue is always leveled back at the player asking for cs time: "You should have brought it up at the beginning!" This doesn't work. Someone invariably goes all-WoW and shouts "gogogogo" and off the groups goes. There are times when you won't even know how the heck the group bypassed the trash when you get left behind, so it becomes hard to catch up, if not impossible.

Ahhh I remember my first run...

All I wanted to do was watch the story cut scenes for the first time. Didn't even get to fight a boss because they locked me out but whatever.

I'm one of those "end game players" who has done CM too many times to count. I will admit and be perfectly fine with admitting that I dislike it when people watch cutscenes. Why? Not because they want to watch the story and they are making the dungeon take longer (there are so many phail tanks that CM takes forever regardless of people watching cutscenese) it is because there is a rampant problem called AFKers. In your screenshot you 100% come off as one of those a**hole AFKers. I know you probably weren't, but your responses were just as antagonizing as theirs. Two wrongs don't make a right. I would've been extremely hostile to you as well because I have run into SO many leechers.. Might've not said anything in chat, but I can assure you my bf and I would been having the AFK leech conversation irl for the upteenth time.

Ironically, I'm pretty sure 90% of the people complaining about being bullied into skipping cutscenes quickly switch sides and turn into the 'plz skip cutscenes' people. If you want to put the blame on anyone, blame SE for making the end game farming dungeons the same as the storyline dungeons...

I was in a mostly server group speed run with one new Duty Finder person- we went fast enough that they were continuously in a cutscene XD lol


"Hey, I'm new can I watch the cutscenes?"
"Yeah no problem, might not make it to the boss fights though" (they only got into one trash fight lol)


I can see not getting into the fights as disappointing but I dont see the speed runs stopping :/ - I think SE giving bonus points for being with new people (confirmed) and then forcing the cutscenes might be a good solution though, with a vote skip option. (Need the bonus points as otherwise speed run players will just leave a group if there is no benefit to going a bit slower).

Once you actually do it a couple of times, you will understand where these people are coming from.

If you don't like the conditions put up by the group - make your own. Your complaint is absolutely unjustified.
Shout for some people who want to watch the cutscenes on your servers. If people want to speed run it's their choice and there is nothing wrong with that.

Unfortunately, I'm probably going to stay new for a while until my Free Company gets enough active members to this point so we can all do it together.

I am a healer so if anyone that gets in my group in the DF wants to watch cut scenes I tell everyone if they pull anything while someone is in a cut scene I will let them die and not res them. They usually watch the cut scenes, they only add like 5 mins.

when you do it with duty finder it's normal that they do speed runs.
you should also consider that 7 people don't want to spend their sparetime standing around and waiting for people to watch cutscenes.

i fully understand your point tho.
but in this case you should shout for members (or ask in LS) that are willing to wait while you watch the cutscenes.

Had the same experience as you OP with both of the lvl 50 story dungeons. Hell, in the last dungeon 3 of us were locked out of one of the bosses for watching a scene. Got through both dungeons but it was still very frustrating, and i've done neither of them since.

Only need one good tank and healer to thwart a single tank or healer from saying no :P

Of course if you own both the tanks or healers then you own the whole run lol.

(Castrum can be done with 4 solid players)
