I don't see how calling people douches, idiots and whatever names you can think of helps in any situation. Be civil. Be supportive. Life's too short to rage or encourage others to rage over a game. You'll feel much better if you take the high road.

I appreciate your defending the CS newbie. Maybe a better way is to use the behavior you'd like to see used yourself while doing it.

I'm about to do this for the first time and it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I think I've read enough about this that I probably won't be bothered too much even if I end up in a speed run group. :/

I really don't think either side can win this argument though, since both sides have valid points. Because the root of the issue lies with the DF, I still think (like I mentioned before in another similar thread) they need to implement a filter (as a check box) in DF that allows people to choose whether they are willing to join a group with first timers (similar to joining a group in progress). Yes it will add to wait times and doesn't directly stop speedrunners, but it will at least provide a solution to the hostility and end the constant "go make your own group" "no you go make your own group" gripes.

It helps in this situation because the other 6 people now have 2 people to fight against instead of one. I tank against 6 people so CS watcher can focus on CS. I am good at keeping hate against these 6 people so the CS watcher won't have to deal with crap so much. I think there is no act more rude than telling someone to skip cutscene on a story dungeon. Even if they ask nicely like: "Would you mind skipping the cutscenes?", even that gets my blood boiling.

Let me get this straight.. what you are asking here is to find groups of people who are freshly 50, "ungeared" just like you so you all can experience the content as it was meant to be? Perhaps you are a little late on that train ride as it kinda took off weeks ago, you're now trying to find that odd train ride which happens once a day or even rarer.

I feel sorry that you are being forced to not enjoy the cutscenes as things progress, but seeing you as a DPS, it should matters little if you are watching the cutscene while everyone else push forward. When I do speed runs while having new lvl50s, I tell them to not skip cutscene because it turns out you cannot watch them at the inn, I was once made to skip them when I first did it so I know how it feels.

    1. The group was speed-running/bypassing all the mobs. There's no fun in that, so it wouldn't have been worth sticking around.

    2. Trying to deal with that situation would have only served to make me upset, so I took myself out of it to prevent it. I'm still upset (hence why I made this thread), but far less than how I would have been if I had stayed.
If immersion were truly what motivated you then it stands to reason it wasn't nearly as motivating as the fear of upsetting others.

Guess what? We cannot fix your fears so you have to get over it and play how you want to play or stay upset. The choice is yours.

I'm looking forward to going through the dungeon with anyone who will allow me/would also like to experience the dungeon to it's fullest extent. Just once. The story will then be complete and I would not mind as much.

Addressing what I've underlined and bolded. You realized that there are still a large number of people below 50, yes? There's plenty of people who took their time just like myself and others in my Free Company. Myself and one other person in my Free Company are the only people to have reached level 50, and we both reached it recently. We're only weeks into an MMORPG. That's nothing. You can't treat the boat as if it's already sailed. It's only just docked.

People have just decided to ride ahead on their yachts beforehand.

    Cutscene People

Vensaval , how can you expect after weeks into the game to find people who still want to watch cutscenes. There were players who were lvl 50 like 3 days in. It was clearly stated to you "This is a Speed Run" and given the fact your DPS and new to the group . To be honest the group didnt even need you there to do it.Being new your to under geared to contribute to a speed run.
Your only option is to do it with your FC because nobody is going to kill massive amounts of trash mobs which give worthless drops and 0 exp for fun. You do the run simply for tomestones. If you really want to watch cvutscenes just stay at the begining and in 30 minutes ull be done cause the group will finish it without you.

Right now the choke point is reserving instance......

I remember my first CM, in the YouTube guide that I watched, they were telling people to skip cutscenes, so when I got in CM:

    Me: First time.
XX: If it's your first time, you have to skip cutscenes.
Me: So I don't have to skip it if it's my second time?
    XX: It's a speed run.
Me: No you didn't queue for a speed run, you only queued for a dungeon finder, L2R.
    XX: !@#%%#$@!#@!
    ME: (giggle)

Dude just enjoy yourself. The only way it's a real speed run is a premade group of 8. They don't want to take the trouble of making a premade group, want to have the advantages of queing in dungeon finders, but don't want the disadvantages of new players in the dungeon finder. That kind of people. Just tell them to xxxx themselves.

The players who run DF in this game nerd rage more than any other game I've played. The amount of pent up aggression being unleashed in these groups beats anything I ever saw in WoW. When running DF, I quickly see why this game is gaining the reputation of having the worst community
