This is not an excuse for poor design in a system. There's zero reason for loot to get destroyed if no one picks it up. This also happens if everyone passes on something the first time around, which is going to make loot distribution in raids a pain in the ass...
While I can sort of understand them not wanting to change how loot from normal mobs works, the loot system in dungeons is beyond bad. Like seriously, if everyone passes (or doesn't have room) the chest is gone forever? Whoever thought that would be a good idea? Is it really that hard to, oh I dunno.... have the chest just stay there with the loot in it?
In after a whole lot of White Knights defending terrible game design, and in before a whole lot more.
So let me get this right, you say that the system is bad because is no one wants it (that is the whole point of passing loot after all) it's lost? if it was me I wouldn't care, if anyone wanted the loot that badly they would have rolled a need at the very least, I can see where people are coming from if the loot is lost when your inventory is full (I saw it many a time on FFXI.) but as has been said we have more than enough information on screen to know when your inventory is filling up, sell all your junk, or give unneeded items to your retainer before a dungeon and you will be good. While I can sort of understand them not wanting to change how loot from normal mobs works, the loot system in dungeons is beyond bad. If Square gave more inventory space, YOU have nothing to lose. What are you defending for, actually? We have more space than a lot of MMOs actually give you off the bat ontop of a separate system just for weapon and armor (Armory Chest) and a chest just for special items (Armoire) - People said it best and the Rep said it best - Just make preparations and there will be no problems.
Also you don't need to loot EVERYTHING that drops xD
Honestly I would just like more retainers myself. As far as personal it's fine for me those that are crying about it being full will just be doing the same thing if they raised it so it would be an endless cycle of I'm full they raise. One or two more retainers or possibly once housing is open there will be storage options would be fine with me. Someone mentioned an armoire but that is kind of useless as it is since it only holds event armor from what I have seen. Someone else mentioned the green and pink lower level gear, I myself like to keep it so I don't have to run for it again with new jobs that might release and can use it. In house storage would be a good option.
So you telling me if everybody passes the item is lost wow... Good thing nobody wanted it right lol. But seriously this game gives you one slot inventory, two retainers, the armory system, amoire chest whatever it is called, and a FC chest how much inventory is really needed I am a crafter I use both my retainer stuff I plan on selling and crafting I put in my first retainer gear, Special gearsets I collected from dungeons like Brayflox that I plan on using when I level another class or use once Vanity Slots come out I put in the other. There is no reason someone should be running out of inventory. I consider myself a hoarder and have plenty of space.
Edit: Just curious where do you suggest the loot go if everybody passes on it? If in doubt greed if you want it, if you pass you didnt want it. This is the same way in FFXI if everybody pass or your inventory if full and you win the loot, the loot is lost and its nobody fault but your own.

Why! For the love of god tell me why it is so wrong to want to keep the stuff for future crafting? Most things sell on the market board for virtually nothing anyway so it's not like I am keeping the market from working. It's doing a fine job of not working on its own and the inability to keep the mats I need for my 8 crafting classes is just beyond annoying. The only reason I would want to sell it is that without a text view its impossible to keep track of what I have, another thing that needs to be fixed. Allowing us to buy more inventory space is a source of revenue for SE that doesn't amount to pay to win so for the love of the twelve SE, just take my damn money.
Defending this horrible design is laughable. The chest vanishes from sight because nobody immediately picked up what was inside? That makes zero sense from a functional or thematic standpoint.
Please just stop with the truly pathetic excuses. This game has serious flaws and many of them; highlighting them and getting them fixed will make it a superior product.
pretty weak, since it was present in 1.0. You shouldn't remove the good things.Hello,
Currently, when your available inventory space is getting low, a message will appear alerting you to the fact that you're running out of space. This was created so that users could plan accordingly before entering into a dungeon or other content. As such, we do not have any plans for implementing a system that will place items into a pool or similar area in the event that your inventory is full.
