Out the many dungeons and leves I have done I havent once seen a chest just disappear unless you guys actually waited the five minute wait time where they ask you on screen to Need, Greed, or Pass even then the person who picks nothing after everybody else pass gets the loot. If one chest appear in the open world each player in the party gets their own chest and got to open the chest themselves if you dont open it thats on you.

If you keep gear for both disciple of war and disciple of magic from lvl 1-50, your armory chest will be easily overflowing, add all the crafting and gathering gear to that and you've got a real problem. Keep your crafting mats to level crafting on top of gear for every class, and even with 2 retainers, your inventory will eventually get full and hit overflowing.

The only viable solution I found to this? Either do not keep your crafting items, or pick either disciple of magic or disciple of war to play, or do not craft or gather at all. All that gear + all those mats is just too much and it really does pile up.

Inventory management is your responsibility as a player, but we do need options to expand our armory chests and our inventory and possibly a third retainer or a bank of some sort. Maybe housing will come with a new storage option like a crafting items chest or something. I'd also like to see quests like the gobbie bag quests in FFXI or possible craftable items you could buy to upgrade your inventory space, both inventory and armory chest.

Thank you for posting this. Even if people want to jump on you about it, I bet a whole lot of people had no idea that items would vanish forever if their inventory got full! Thanks for the heads up!

If Square were to give 'you' more inventory space, 'I' would have a lot to loose. Because that means people can hoard more... and if they can hoard more, prices go up! It is because they can not hoard that they sell, and because so many sell, prices go down. So yes, it greatly effects me.

it doesn't even stay on the chest for you to loot after you get inv space, no, it gets DESTROYED, FOREVER!

i was farming amdapor keep and on last boss my chest dropped and i won it and had inventory full so it said "Inventory full, loot abandoned" and the item chest, and the object chest on the floor disappeared forever.

    what the hell..
You telling me you go into a dungeon loot hunting with a full Armory Chest and a full Inventory and you are mad at the Game Designer and not yourself for not clearing your inventory or Armory Chest before entering the dungeon. Wow I heard it all. I have a question for you I understand why your inventory may be full but why are you running around with a full Armory Chest?

Seems I went to a lot of hard work to get my Aetherial such and such. But I've got a couple full bags of those pinks and greens. I'm just not sure if I should keep my starting dungeons gear set, my hala gear set, my maw gear set, etc, or if I should just use my current best gear via level sync (higher repair costs for lower dungeons vs convert for materia vs for vanity purposes of full lower dungeon sets, etc, etc, etc so on and so forth).
You should be converting those into seals at your GC counter. If you start leveling another class somewhere down the road, you should have some gil on hand to buy some simple gear until you can run the dungeon as the new class. Hoarding is bad, mmkay?

I disagree If its a gearset I say like the Battlemage or any of the sets that come from Brayflox I say keep. Hoarding is not bad if you know what you are hoarding. Hoarding just to hoard is a different story but who are we to tell someone how to play. All we can do is give advice. Telling someone to convert gear to seals when they are already capped in seals is kinda of silly.

We have 450 item slots total, far, FAR more than some games give you after spending large amounts of in-game currency buying expansion bags or whatever .. not to mention the massive number of GEAR slots with the Armoury.

    A) There SHOULD be a "loot overflow"/"loot list"/etc solution that prevents loot from being instantly destroyed if you try to loot it when your inventory is full. As has been mentioned, they had the loot list in FFXIV 1.0, right??

    B) FFXIV gives amazing amounts of storage and I haven't had any problems keeping my inventory free so far. Even though I'm a TOTAL MMO HOARDER and I'm leveling *all* the crafting classes, two gathering classes, and 3 combat classes, simultaneously.

So I agree with both sides of the argument. I guess that makes me a Grey Knight??

I thought armour/weapons scale down when you enter lower level content? That should negate the need to keep low level equipment, yes?

I will suggest however, that it would be nice to have a different way to maintain Materia. Even without trying to hoard at all, if I just want 1 of each that's 100 slots. And it could be fair to want 1 of each because going Tier IV is not always needed (or beneficial). Not 100 extra slots for any use, just more space for Materia only (like Crystals). But perhaps even cap that at 5 or 10 each so we do not hoard.

In a way there is... when the treasure chest is looted it appears in the loot pool (shared by everyone). It stays there for a while. Before rolling on it, one has plenty of time to make sure one has space for it. If adventuring one always low on space, adventuring one can always monitor space left and make sure space is made. When adventuring one has space, then adventuring one can roll on loot.

You hoarder you! :P Perhaps hoarding one can also hoard only HQ items, because NQ items are not worth much. This can help other hoarding ones to have more space to hoard ^.^
