If you miss those days, that game STILL exists. Stop trying to turn this game into THAT game.I miss those days so much.
It seems these days all people care about is endgame content they can burn out on. I mean really the only way this game will keep people interested is if FFXIV keeps popping out expansions. And I fear it will be like wow, where one expansion kills the previous content, where your super awesome weapon becomes worse than trash quest gear in the new XPac.
and fix mob leashes.. they are to short
This is not the way Yoshi-p intended for people to level up, so expect them to ninja patch this in some way soon, Please look forward to it.
That game has been casualized too...
one thing i liked about ffxi was that end game content was capped to 75 for a long time, and weapons you got in expansion 1 would still work on expansion 3, you had a variaty of weapons to choose, with buffs and random procs. making old content playable 3 years after because the drop was still useful. now.. come ffxiv next expansion.. epic weapons like ifrit garuda and titan.. will be as good as a vendor weapon..
HeavensWard theme song lyrics:
-"We can [Stance]dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't [Stance]dance
And if they don't [Stance]dance
Well they're no friends of mine"
[QUOTE=Ryios;1289086]I remember quite a few suprises in FFXI in exp parties.QUOTE]
lol they were good times. First time in the caves by by Basty I watched a 20 Quad train go by me after some poor soul, then on thier way back they stopped at me and all 20 of em hunched over and simultainiously attacked me, looked funnier than shiz. Exp parties were sometimes a pain to get into but most were a blast. had all my spells in a row macro'd to cast while waiting in order to skill em up.
I hate to say it but the only way you can make an exp party is we need a level sync feature so we can use it with friends or most of them will not bother.
Do you expect open world mobs to be a threat? Grinding mobs to get levels shouldn't have any fancy work. Even FFXI wasn't like that, it just had a slow combat system, mobs with alot of health, and if you got after IT's they can hit hard.
Grinding shouldn't be this fancy work that requires tactics. Leave that for bosses.![]()
No you can make an exp party. But you have to organize it, and it's harder than finding groups in FFXI was. Easiest thing to do is get 8 people all level 1 on new classes and go find a level 5 camp, you'll be level 5 in a blink, then move to level 10 camp (e.g. Horizon), 15 in a blink, then camp drybone areas, level 20 in a blink. In fact you can basically do 1-25 in one night like this especially if you participate in fates that happen to be near by your camps.
Well, all I can tell you is make a petition of sorts. You have to have people agreeing with you (and a lot at that) for SE to make a huge change like that). They actually did it once in 1.0 where the Battle system was completely changed. If you truly feel this way, make one and see how many people agree with your plight. I'll even sign because it really doesn't matter to me, I'll have fun either way :P.I don't think it's ok I can mount from one end of BEASTMAN STRONGHOLD to the other at level40 aggroing everything with zero threat. That isn't even scary, where's the danger, where's the adventure?
Trash in dungeons is just that too, trash, so it's not just open world content. The only fun mobs inside a dungeon thus far are the bee's in qarn and the statues, everything else is just tank + spank and no threat. Why can a decade old MMO create normal enemies as powerful as bosses but a current gen one just creates "filler" trash that servers no purpose but to annoy you and slow you down?
We need enemies as powerful as FFXI mobs in the open world that chase you forever and make you scared to aggro them. I'm never in any danger of dying, the only times I've died is when I've jumped off a cliff with aggro in the open world.
Edit: Even if that were to be approved, patches will slow down to accommodate these changes. Secondly, will the majority of the players like said changes? will these changes make more money for SE? Have to look at it at a business perspective as well.
