Skip Darklight?

This has been puzzling me for awhile.

My initial goal was to rush Clerics, but of course things change.. Now I've been told that I need Darklight, but to be honest it's a great looking set the stats are just awful. I've been doing AK for the Strategos set. With 2 pieces of that ugly set down I'm wondering if i should just stop and get Darklight.

I'll have Clerics in like 3 weeks anyway. I already heal the same amount as people with Darklight so I fail to see why I should bother to get it.

I would get all but the darklight body... Though the full stratego set from AK is pretty much just as good or if you get a vanya robe and hat and then get the rest of the darklight. I would just stay away from the darklight body really...

If your circumstances allow you to skip it then go right ahead.

I don't understand how SE has endgame planned out, people are working on Darklight, Allag and AF2 gear at the same time with no real tiers of progression, same goes with Relic weapons and Primal weapons.

I guess this is why they're adding an item level requirement...

vanya is senselees at the moment...

it cost more token... crafting material... specific materia to meld... and even melded HQ has almost the same stat of a darklight...

5 melded HQ Vanya Robe of Healing is on par with AF2/Allgan

Going from memory here so it may be off but with the Vanya robe melded to it's stat caps you get:
20 MND
20 VIT
20 Det (1 Det IV)
24 Crit (3 Crit IV)
22 Spell Speed (1 S.Spd IV)

Versus AF2:
29 MND
29 VIT
26 Piety
24 Spell Speed

They are incredibly powerful pieces of gear and the head, body and hands can be crafted at a 100% HQ rate by someone who knows what they are doing.

Focus on MND and Magic Wep DMG.

Then go for Crit/Det

I dont get why people dislike the DL body of healing. It gives a ton of MND, HP, a decent chunk of MP and determination. That last stat may be why, but it has very good stats in my opinion otherwise. The HP boost is what matters the most though.

that could be right... but u'r using r4 materia... that are even more hard to get... also the time and gil needed for soulbounding enough equip end to get those materia (and found the right one) is quite huge... enough to give u time to farm your mithology...

also note that determination is acqually quite the bas stat with a return that is about half of pure stat... so while those 20 point of det will compensate for 9 point of mind u lose the 9 point of vit and the 26 point of piety that u loose will be REALLY heavy...

PS: to those that say SS is trash and crit is good... maybe u should do the mat and find out that SS and Crit have the same return in efficency... 105 point of crit increase critical chance by 8%... that is an effective healing/fmd efficency increase by 4%... 105 point of Spell/skill speed decrease the GCD by 0,1 that is a 4% increased cast speed that traslate in a 4% increased efficiency...

actually the only advantage of crit over SS is the mana/TP managament... but that goes at the cost of the increase proc rate over time that u get from firing additional skill... so based on your class u should think well about u chose (for example WHM with his free cost proc for cure II can make quite some use of increased SS... and this without taking into account our cd that increase SS by 100% turning us in spamming machine the more SS we have gathered...)

You lose helm stats, that's why :/ if Darklights hood was separate then it'd be worth it, I avoid all 1 piece sets. :/ - Don't get me wrong, it looks amazing, but you're better to just skip it. :/
