    Its a Society thing,
People are on the whole far ruder and more obnoxious than they were 10 years ago (anyone who works in retail or customer service knows this)
The knock on effect is that MMO communities have got slowly worse, and almost make the games unplayable (I think maybe I'm just getting too old for these type of games, and perhaps "people" in general)

Not really. They have to make a game people will buy.

The saddest part of ARR is that if it was XI-2, it wouldn't have sold as well. They had to turn it into what it is now for it to be a mainstream game.

Doesn't that kind of prove his point? No one wants to make a great niche game, they will choose to make an average mainstream game instead. It's all about the money not the game.

If you don't have the time to play an MMO because you are busy in real life...maybe this MMO is not for you. Everybody knows by now that a MMO will take a long time to play and you will have to sacrifice you social life to a certain point if you want to do end-game content.

The instant gratification is also true; is it me or kids these days have a mentality that everyone deserved to be a winner? You have to work for your gratification buddy

Sad thing is prolly about half the people who bought from sale. Won't be subbing.

It's like the game is somewhere in the void between niche and mainstream

I never understood this argument in music or art and i sure don't get it for video games either. Why do people seem to think that something has to be niche for it to be great and everything that is "mainstream" "sellout" is average?

News flash for all the pompous indy douchers out there. If something attracts millions of people it is great, if something attracts a few thousand it is average, not the other way around.

I mean, I get you 100%. I agree with the guy too, but the dev's probably know the systems aren't fun. I doubt they are ignorant, at least I hope their not. But it doesn't matter. You make a game that's profitable, or you make a game that flops, shuts down, and never happens. The latter is better.

The generation of gamers has changed for the worse and there is nothing that can change it back.

I mean, really... People complain about how hard it is to kill titan to get their relic. The best possible item in slot, and they complain that they don't have it within week 1. Imagine what a slap in the face that is to the people who spent 2 years (after they spent months getting to 75) to even consider trying to get their relic.

Things are just different now. The game sadly was either like it is now, or it was never going to happen. I wish a lot of things were different, but sadly I accept the fact that they are they way they are because SE had to make money off this game. Maybe they will, and then maybe we can expect some good changes for expansions?

    It's a stretch... But I'll still hope I suppose.

I have to disagree a bit to this. Take Dark Souls / Demons Souls for example.

Hard, niche games. Very stoic, very unforgiving. Neither had astronomical sales numbers, because they are pretty hard games. If the studio wants more money, they need to make the game more mainstream.

But honestly, it's just how things have to be. Your argument is pretty bad. It's like saying One direction is clearly "good" music because millions of girls like it. We know that's not true. Millions of people eat at McDonalds, that doesn't make it a great place to eat.
