I think the funniest thing about all of this is:

"Don't do content until you're geared."

In order to get geared you must do content since the people who defend the above usually don't want people in "AH gear" either since some of the better accessories to meld that won't cost you millions are the level 30-50 accessories which only goes to ilvl 55. Since the only option for people would be to spam CM/Praetorium for DL which doesn't automatically make someone good enough to do "content" since people up and leave just because they're new to it.

You aren't differentiating between under-geared, geared, and over-geared. Comes in a few flavours and you most certainly don't have to have already done something to be appropriately geared for it.

I think what ppl are trying to say is don't try to skip ahead an be carried because you are to lazy to grind. So this is pretty easy:

You grind Castrum to get at least all of your DL jewelry. To break things up maybe throw in some HM Ifrits. Once you have an Ifrit weapon and a couple pieces of DL jewelry, you should be able to run AK. You now need to run AK to get some drops and tokens for more DL gear. At this point you can also start running Garuda, when you get a weapon drop and have most of your DL jewelry you can go on to titan. and so on....

There are far too many people that go straight from the end of the story to AK or get carried through Ifrit HM and then go onto Garuda as they just want to get their relic quest done, they ruin the runs for everyone else and then come and cry on the forums when they are told they are not geared for content.

There's an entire "just before AK but better than AF1" level 50 green set in there that you can use to get the entire level 50 AK set while farming DL stuff and it all drops philo tokens while you're at it. No need to farm story instances for DL if you need some new level 50 entry stuff. You sure as shit don't need any DL for AK, of that I assure you. The problem with the gearing issue is people misconstrue what is realistic in terms of gearing with what is ideal. Ideally, you'd go into AK with AF2 and a relic, and cake walk it. Tailoring your expectations of people's gear so that it's in line with reality (and the game's own logical progression) is prudent. I think it's important, especially when giving advice to those who truly want to improve, not to severely inflate their belief of what they "need" to do content, it does them a disservice because it makes it all unrealistic and seemingly unattainable.

I always forget about WP - your right you can use that to gear up for AK and primal HM's. Just CM is more efficient right now. I would at the very least recommend having an Ifrit weapon before entering AK. If you go into AK with nothing but your SM gear you are horribly gimping your group and making the run much harder than it has to be.

The only point to my post was to show some gear progression and not to just rush to hard content without at least getting some of the gear required and ruining others fun. If you are going to use the DF at least make an effort to gear up for what you are going to be doing. There is nothing about my post that is even remotely unattainable lol. Are you kidding me. You can get 2 pieces of DL jewelry for like 8 runs. even for the most casual that is a week of work for a few pieces of gear. The other option is to pay horribly inflated prices for jewelry on the market.
