SE has stated (somewhere) that certain content will require a minimal gear level. How is that the player's fault for being elitist when that's how the game was designed?

Not saying there are no elitist in the game but the above isn't the case.

Either ask SE to nerf the content so it is doable with AF gear level or stop calling people elitist for asking players to have minimal gear level for said content lol...

I kind of agree yes, if u have the perfect set-up group wise, and everyone is doing there 100% best at there role, i believe content that is meant for better geared people is doable, but 90% of people in pugs are idiots, and u never get the perfect group, adampor keep for example, i have had bad groups and i know my self as a healer, i could probably do with gearing up abit more, get some dark light if not full darklight.

If u keep failing, and everyone is trying there best, it does normally come down to gear.

I don't mind the OP too much. Good gear does help. And paying attention certainly does.

But if it is someone's first run, there are most certainly mistakes that will be made. Saying "l2p" when someone messes up just makes me feel sorry for whoever says it. People have different learning paces. To assume everyone will get it perfect the first 3 times, makes me wonder how close minded people are able to function without eventually going crazy.

But then there is the other side of the coin. If someone instructs you nicely on how to do things, LISTEN. Do your best. If your best isn't good enough for them, that is their problem. But do at least try. If you are confused, speak out and say so.

A perfect example is ifrit HM. I unfortunately did a few PuG runs. When ifrit does his big AoE after the nails go down and 3 of the dps and the healer get one shot standing in my SCH GTAoE shield "sacred Soil" there is a problem. It is not elitest to expect people:

1. do not stand in stuff
2. do not do stuff before you are ready/geared

I honestly can't figure out how these people were dying, I did not have time to inspect. Worse was that they kept standing in stuff and dying, lucky for them I have swiftcast for res, but I do not like carrying PuGs that want free weapons.

Just to make it clear, I've taught many many people how to do AK well with trash pulls, I do dance lessons for the 2nd boss, and I explain everything to new players.

What I don't like is when we cannot defeat the first boss because the other DD is in level 29 greys and using a level 32 weapon to dps.

It's unacceptable and lazy.

"It's just a game" means just that. It's a game. If you want to get free items for not helping anyone, you're a leech. You're not contributing to anything and using people.

Don't get me wrong; I want to do well at this game and I don't want to be the constantly-revived one running around like my undies are on fire... but it's a game! We're meant to be having fun! Anyone with strict standards (or intolerance) for gear/knowledge/general expertise, etc needs to keep away from random PUGs and create a static/FC with like-minded people. That way they get to play "their" game and some new enthusiastic tank doesn't get yelled at for not wearing items they didn't even know existed yet.

Your logic needs work, if you're going to call people idiots for not knowing their gear isn't good enough then you're an elitist. You can't deny it, that is what this analogy states.

There's a HUGE difference between playing stupidly and simply not having the gear required to play.

Difference with your analogy would be that said player joining the football team came to play without a helmet and pads, does that prevent him from playing? No, but it'll hurt a lot more. And that's his choice to make, not yours.

And with regards to the post you made after this about "It's just a game" yeah, exactly right. Which is why you should stop crying about it and let people play how they want to play, elitist.
