Obviously you are not in the realm to even be glanced at by automatic bot searching methods. So, I've got a hypothetical question for you.

Lets say you are at the beach during a sand castle competition. You work on yours and it turns out to be an igloo about the size of a medium sized dog. Now about 10 feet away from you there is a sand castle artist. His castle is 6 feet high, 12 feet across and deep. It is well decorated with quartz the guy made compressing sand with his hands (could be superman!) and even has an awesome moat to trap the little kiddies running around in. Now a bulldozer decides to drive through the beach and hits this guys sand castle which would have been a wonder of the world along with some other castles made with large molds. Would you really think, "That guy spent too much time making that, he deserved for his work to be destroyed. O'well, if the bulldozer ran over mine I wouldn't miss it either so it is okay."

Of course this is a dramatized question, but it is the same concept if you consider the game avatars works of art and not easily replaced.

Yes, bots are sometimes bad. What is worse than bots though is hitting false positives. I actually heard someone praising bots the other day. "They keep the price for crystals down."

I get what you are saying but in almost all cases(almost) I am ok with collateral damage if the greater good is served.

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

Its an MMO. if someone is botting every craft or botting a gathering job it essentially makes half the game pointless for regular players and thus its kind of like SE created the whole crafting and gathering jobs specifically for people who cheat. Those people will be the ones who will get to buy all the epic gear and experiance the game to its fullest.

So? And I cant go do it? You can earn tens of millions without botting in a couple week from level 1, anyone can do it. Thats just how useless gil is and how you can go get all the "epic lootz" that dont exist.

Theres a guy with rank 50 on every class, does that mean I should just quit because hes done it all so no point me doing it now, /wrists.

you can't compete against 50 people botting 24/7.
    yes you can make gil
but for every 1mil you make a botter will make 5 or 10mil

And when it comes to buying items in the future, there will be 200+ people with huge amounts of gil from botting which will artifically increase the prices of all the goods.

Also means the game will probably end up at some point with hyperinflation. For now a lot of people just hold onto their gil, but if something like dynamis currency comes out those people will buy up all of it, injecting the money they hoarded into the economy at a very quick rate, causing all prices to rise drastically. And at that point your 10mil might no longer be worth anything more than a 5 hour farming session, regardless of it taking you 2 months to get it. That happened on FFXI and caused -a lot- of people to quit the game.

So? They can be as rich as they want, you want to know something? GIL doesnt get the item, it has to come somewhere, weather it be quest, or event, or crafted. It has to come from somewhere first, so all those people will hundreds of millions buying/selling stuff, I will just make that stuff, and sell it, and i've made millions from it.

If 10m is only worth 5hr farming session, i'll go farm for 5hrs and get it. Everything a botter can do you can do, because they're only using what the game supplies.

gil does get the item though. And yes you can do everything a botter can do, but not 24/7 like the botter. And not on multiple characters at once. So you can never compete. And when people notice something can be botted, more and more bot the item, pushing the prices down. So competing normally is almost impossible.

Gil was very hard to come by for me since the only leves I have been doing were regional. Most of the gil i spend are on repairs and such. I have never had any more than 1.5mil.

I've been working on my Goldsmithing lately, making Brass Rings and selling for 2k each. Made some really good money, around 200k of profit since I harvest my own ores as well. The Crafting classes are where the gil is at. Still, with the amount you can get from leves, an easy 300-500k a week from leves if you pick the right ones.

Gil is flowing into the economy than it is going out.

Anyways, I've seen a few bots and i know a website where you can buy them. My curiosity got me into doing some research and I found tutorials on how to use them. I really don't understand how they work, but its almost like setting on-going macros.

So its really just a machine doing the work for you. I don't see what the big problem is with crafting or gathering bots, but when you are pitted against an auto-targeting bot, that's when things get personal.

Right you've just gone back on yourself, complaining about prices being high and then saying more and more bot the item and its reduced, which is fact, look at shards. So I wait for that to happen, I'm not depressed or have such an ego to be the first to have x item, I can wait until its affordable by the mass botters.

And Gil doesn't get the item, everything is accessible in game free. You can go farm your mats to take up a craft, you can slice fish up for shards, or break crystals into shards, all farmed or fished, you can then go out with friends kill a NM and use your craft to make the item. Or if the item drops from a pure NM, camp it and claim it and get the drop. There wont be the same scene as XI as already perceived by the developers.

You're hating botters for the wrong reasons it seems, all I see is jealousy that the botter has 100m while your sad your 1m doesnt go far and you're sitting in velveteen while the botter is in some insane robe that you need 42 golden ducks to get. Why does-the way you get something have to have any competitiveness against another person? This is a game, you do what you want on it, the "competing" is all in your head.

People come up with silly excuses like "They claim all your mobs!" well I could do that, without botting, and since when are they your mobs, did you go around with a black marker writing your name on it and filing out some copyright form to allow authorization of the ownership of that mob to you? Its pathetic really lol.
