The issue with cost on Hyperion is 3 fold.
1) Good Crafted/Melded gear is difficult to make better then darklite which can be easily obtained in 4-5 days of spaming A.Keep or Castrum:mer. Which is gimp compared to af2 which you can get in 2 weeks.
2) You can see what people are selling. Because of 1 the low demand and high supply people are easily able to undercut each other. Which will result in things selling for near nothing.
3) It is stupid easy to do everything. 100% chance to hq still, crazy easy to level crafts (I went from cooking level 39-42 with leves in 35mins.... I bought food from the AH and turn it in for double the gil and 20-30k xp per turnin.. yea good design SE), Way to easy to gather. I can get a stack of hq and 3 stacks of nq in less then an hour... the demand will never be that high. So as the market gets more saturated the prices will keep droping.
This is an accurate assessment of where we are at now on Hyperion.
ecconomy is fooked on non legacy servers as well people keep under cutting by huge numbers lol
It's not going to sort itself out. There are several notable design flaws with the game that break the economy, such as:
- Too few items, which causes prices to drop very quickly because everyone is selling the same few.
- Most crafted items are no different than quest rewards. There's little reason to buy things you can get for free.
- Repair costs (being addressed, I know)
- Too few uncommon/rare items, most of which are unsellable. Monsters don't drop gear, either.
- Crafting in general doesn't pay off until Level 40+.
- Crafted items are almost universally inferior to dungeon loot.
And many other things.
Personally, I empty the AH of anything I see being sold for less than it can be vendored for. Used to make a pretty penny doing that with spell scrolls in FFXI, and it's sort of funny to see it happen here too. Unfortunately it's nowhere near the windfall in this game.
Solo MMO is solo.
Level everything, gather and make ur own stuff.
The whole purpose of crafting and gathering is the economy. If there is no economy for say blacksmithing and armorsmithing, there is something majorly wrong. That is what crafting is in a mmo, it is why most people do it.
If SE does not fix the economy they should save money and stop updating crafting and gathering. Put it towards battle content. I pray to god they do not do that, but atm there is almost 0 reason to level crafting or gathering in FFXIV:ARR unless you want the achievements.
Only thing worth a damn in my opinion now is food, jewelry(till you get enough tokens at 50), and materia. But mostly food.
You're wrong because what is and isn't considered "difficult" is subjective. You might have had an easy time fighting Chimera, others are have spent about 2 weeks trying to down it. You might have downed Garuda(Hard) in a couple hours, some are still trying to defeat her. You're wrong because you're generalizing an entire community based solely off your own perspective.
I'm sure there will be elitists who will scoff and say "Pfft, that was easy!" but in all honesty I did have trouble with Hydra, Garuda, and even Titan. It took some concentration, and a considerable amount of devoted time to beat them all. (Especially Titan.) So really, in the end you can't use the hardcore gamer progression as evidence to the ease of a game.
This is what I've noticed as well, Food is really great, but time after time I'm the only person using food in any given run.. Materia is the big money maker, but that'll probably die down as well once people realize they don't need to max out their character anymore.
Jewlery "could" be a money maker
I'm running a little test atm, selling necklace, ring that are double, Triple bonded and selling... So far it's been 2 days and the price keeps lowering, waiting to see how low she goes :/ It's not looking good...
but I saw the 49 HQ ring market is around 1.4k now... so yeah.. we'll see
