It does take time, but like Ashgarth said; there's really no need to buy anything.

I actually DID realize that I can double/triple bond some HQ gear, and make pieces slightly better than Dungeon drops at any given level, but the amount of money and work... nobody is going to pay for it when you'll be gaining 4-5 levels by afternoon...

I guess Materia is the only market that's going to be decent until 50, it seems to take forever to spirtbond past 30

The problem is some items are put up at ridiculous costs, and they will drop. We do not want inflation. It won't work. Take a lot at NPC prices and go from there. Sale too high, people won't buy. Sell at realistic prices, people will. You won't build up crafting if you spend all your 1.0 gil on over priced supplies, with no balanced way to replenish it. THe answer s not jacking up prices, because In reality, a majority of players can't spend that.

Get XI pricing out of your head. Xi for the longest time had a very poor economy. Extremly unbalanced, resulting in more RMT trading.

    That is the problem.

All the items dropped from raids are worthless because they drop like rain, everything is easily obtainable, hence everyone has everything and prices go down. Game is too easy.
Please keep telling me about your experiences and how easy everything post-Titan is.

Personally I like how people put stuff on the market for the exact same amount of gil they'd get from a NPC. And there are actually people buying it...
I mean, the buyers are blowing gil into the void?! That makes me cringe everytime I see it. (Mostly when I am re-checking the prices of the items I wanted to sell the day before. Everytime the price dropped by at least 100-200 Gil. If the new price is below what I'd want for it or the same as a NPC would give me: I simply sell it to the NPC.)

That's very out of context. A few fights does not represent the majority of the game (Nor does a few hard boss fights make the game as a whole hard), especially as far as the market is concerned since a handful of tough boss fights doesn't have much to do with that at all.

I just don't think HQ items in the 40s should be going for 100-200 Gil for a piece of armor... But yeah you can sell HQ Militia armor to the NPC for 175 Gil

I actually NPC quite a bit of the trash I get, but even now my retainers are 175/175, and when I did a price check before the servers went down, I was shocked to see so many markets that have dropped below what I would consider a fair price..

Crystals and Repairs really add up.

I guess I'll just rely on Leve's for money, and grind up some Darklight like everyone else. Until there's some balance in the markets. Such a shame, I was really enjoying the crafting/gathering in ARR.

Obviously gear is no longer the money maker, once you realize this and start learning how to use the markets of FFXIV:ARR you will do just fine, and have quite a lot of gil to boot

The issue with cost on Hyperion is 3 fold.

    1) Good Crafted/Melded gear is difficult to make better then darklite which can be easily obtained in 4-5 days of spaming A.Keep or Castrum:mer. Which is gimp compared to af2 which you can get in 2 weeks.
    2) You can see what people are selling. Because of 1 the low demand and high supply people are easily able to undercut each other. Which will result in things selling for near nothing.
    3) It is stupid easy to do everything. 100% chance to hq still, crazy easy to level crafts (I went from cooking level 39-42 with leves in 35mins.... I bought food from the AH and turn it in for double the gil and 20-30k xp per turnin.. yea good design SE), Way to easy to gather. I can get a stack of hq and 3 stacks of nq in less then an hour... the demand will never be that high. So as the market gets more saturated the prices will keep droping.

SE made some of the best crafting and gathering in the mmo world... and combined it with the absolute worst economy model of any mmo ever developed.

People saying gear is no longer a money maker.... This should be a red flag something is seriously wrong.

I agree that gear is far too easy to obtain just from quests and lvling. There's no point on even looking at crafted items until you get to 50 and even then you really only need the weapon for the relic quest, darklight can be obtained by raiding dungeons in AF. And even those dungeons will drop gear so... why bother?

I found myself unable to sell anything as a weaver and today I decided to lvl Gladiator for a while, i went to the market, bought a lvl 25 full armor for less than 400g and proceeded to run dungeons for a couple hours. I have almost completed a dungeon set for tank that's better than anything a crafter can create at this level, in 2 hours.

Also, to the people who sell items for 1g.

    ONE GIL

    ONE

    FREAKING

    GIL

You realize you would get more money by just vendoring it?
They're probably hoping to get Gath's one gil
