Seriously? You play 13-15 hours a week, which is a lot for most people, and you want to claim that anyone not near 50 isn't trying to play?
Refreashing post OP thanks! : D I just wish I could time warp myself to one month from now when hopefully all the thin skinned whiney babbies free subs run out, can't start a thread anymore without drama lol. THIS GAME IS FUN WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! oops, sorry, caps ; )
tbh im not trying to get to lvl 50, but i am trying to rush all my classes to lvl 30 before the 40 v 40 pvp content get here. i honestly could not careless about lvl 50 or endgame content

13-15 hours is a lot? That's 12.5% of my awake time for the entire week, I have a full time job and 3/4 time undergrad, and can fit that in. So yeah, if you aren't near 50 you aren't trying.
Well, first off, I failed at my maths. You're playing 20-22 hours per week. You're basically saying when you're not doing work or school stuff or sleeping, you're playing the game. Here, let's do a breakdown.
168 hours in a week.
40 hours for work leaves you at 128
56 hours for 8 hour sleep per night drops you to 72
12 hours of class time for 3/4 time at school takes you to 60
Let's not forget commute time, assume half hour there and back for 1 hour per day, that brings you to 53
I typically spend about twice as much time doing studying as class time, so that brings you to 29 hours.
Assume a half hour per day for meals takes you to 25.5 hours
Taking out your 20-22 hours of play times leaves you with 3-5 hours PER WEEK to take care of anything else other than a video game.
Yes, you play a lot.
You really should read my post in the context of the post it was replying to. It will make you look much less foolish. Also, I call BS on the "military habits" bit. I served for 6 years yet get my full 8 hours and take my time eating.Well, I'm full time work, full time school also here. Not everyone goes by your time span. Me for example:
168 Hours total per week
40 hours yada yada = 128
i sleep only 4 hours a night (military habit) so that drops it to 100
12 credit hours of class, which i only go to school for 2 hours a day, the other two are online classes so that drops mine to 92
commute time, give or take an hour at most, i live really close to everything, community college and work, so that takes me to 87
study? whats that?
meals, again, military habit and i can finish under 5 minutes, three times a day max, so thats what, 2 hours off? 85 hours left
85 TOTAL hours i can work with, and i do have a wife and a daughter AND expecting one on the way.
im level 46 right now and i need to spread the 85 hours total per week among the game, wife and kids. Its not that hard to "rush" to level and have a life. good day.

What is "rushing"? There's no way to make the game give you more experience than it was designed to do. If you can get to 50 in a week through FATE grinding, then that was part of the game's design. I haven't seen anything that suggests this is against the rules or not what the devs "intended". I mean, in a game where you can level every class on a single character, it kind of makes sense to have a system in place to grind out a lot of levels. So, unless you only want to level a single job and call it quits, then realistically, this game will take even the most dedicated players a month or two to level every Disciple of War/Magic class to 50, assuming they ignore Land/Hand. I would say you can probably double that time estimate if a person goes for everything. That also assumes a person doesn't spend much time doing anything else in-game, like exploring, side quests, end game, etc.
All in all, I'd say the game is mostly working as designed. If people want to do endless FATE grinding, I might question their idea of fun, but I wouldn't say they're wasting their time or ruining the game for themselves. I expect to hit 50 with my first class in the next week or so, and I have not been "rushing". I only do FATES when I run across them during my questing and exploring, and I'm already BRD 35. Also, I have had zero issues with gil so far, and I haven't unlocked a single DoL/DoH. Even when I do hit 50, I don't really expect this to change. I've barely spent any gil leveling up, and although I realize I'll need more as I do endgame to keep my gear repaired, they've already said they are lowering those costs in an upcoming patch.
Now, will people that do nothing but FATE grinding to 50, ignore the main-story quest, don't do any side quests, and only repeat the same endgame content over and over get bored? Probably. Frankly, these kinds of players are in EVERY MMO launch. They leave almost as fast as they level up, moving on to the next MMO when it hits, and repeat the process. These people were never going to be long-term XIV players, so I don't think there's much point trying to slow them down. An MMO is never going to have enough content to satisfy such players, which is why they bounce from MMO to MMO. It'd be great if they stayed a while, as it's great for population numbers and sub fees, but I won't be counting on it.

I agree. Its goo to let other people know that they can take their time, relax and enjoy. That the people rushing are not playing the game better, they are playing it differently. (and experiencing issues like not enough gil, bad DF groups, PUGs with bad gear, because of this choice to experience nothing but constant endgame dungeon/primal grinding)
Unfortunately, they are very vocal and now we are getting changes to these apparent "issues". To fix things the majority have not encountered and probably never would have. Why rush to 50 then try to spam endgame content with other people who did the same. Most of these people will have little gil, low level gear and little experience.
That's a LOOOT of time to be invested into this game a week (at least for me it is)... Not all of us have that much free time, and not all of us spend our free time solely on this game. (and as another poster posted, not all of us go on just 4 hours of sleep every day).
