Discourage people via a high gil/seal price, like they do for restatting. There is no valid reason to charge RL money in a sub game. I am willing to say ok for changing servers though for various reasons that should be obvious.

I don't mind either way really.

But there is a valid reason, Square Enix are a business trying to make money. This would make them money.

I'm looking forward to it. I'd gladly plop down 20 bucks to be able to freely change my character whenever. It would make me want to play this game even longer knowing I can mix it up every now and then. Right now after seeing a bunch of cute Lalafells in game I want to be a Lalafell for a spell. I think any game that lets you create a character should give you an option to redo your character.

Not sure what a cash shop is as this is my first MMO but paying for an item to change a character's appearance doesn't seem like something to get mad about.

Some people are concerned that Square Enix might open the 'cash shop' door. Some other games would offer; Money, EXP Boosts, Gear, Weapons. Essentially things to progress in the game faster.

However, all we're asking for is the option to pay for a character appearance option, some people are missing this point and getting mad believing that we're asking Square Enix to go into full 'Cash Shop' mode.

It's a standard MMO service to offer character appearance changes, and i'm the same as you. I get fickle and feel like changing.

To be honest, I wouldn't have any problems with that either despite the sub, not that I want them to implement something like that or anything. All I really just want to do is just change my appearance instantly though. I think I'd be a bit miffed if they make it some 20,000+ GC seal type thing to unlock as that would take way too long. Other than wanting to try out a Lalafell I keep spotting out imperfections of my characters as I play under certain conditions and it bugs me.

Slippery slope is slippery, micro transaction do not belong in a sub game , they belong in f2p micro-transaction game. They want to make money isn't a valid reason as the whole basis of sub games is that there will be no cash shop or such other you have to use RL money to "XYZ".

They charge RL money for anything other than server transfers, if they charge for pets, cosmetics (both appearance or fashion items) name changes, mounts etc etc and my wife and I will drop this like a dirty diaper.

We want to pay sub so we can avoid cash shops whether they be in game or not. Do this and we would no longer be willing to pay for a sub.

Either be a sub based game or not and be f2p, be one or the other not some hybrid con.

Really? You would quit this amazing game because Square is giving players the option to change their appearance?

Of course not! ...... Learn to read and the reason why I would quit will become clear. They can easily offer this service in game without RLM.

It's not my place, but i'd certainly hope you wouldn't quit the game if they did stupidly offer a few minions in exchange for cash.

If they started offering pay-to-win items, such as money, gear/weapons, exp boosters.
That's my limit, and i'd be ducking out. That's where the dark territory comes in.

While I understand your position I do not agree with it.

Like I said Slippery Slope, ....cosmetics leads to convenience leads to p2w a la star wars philosophy. I have seen it happen in too many games which have led to the hybrid scam a la DDO amongst others.

I agree with much for this, it would greatly disappoint me if FFXIV turned into a subscription based game with an added cash shop, it'd really cheapen the name "Final Fantasy" and experience of XIV for me to see people selling items bought for cash for gil.

However, that being said, I would like to see untradeable character customisation items or account actions, such as those found in WoW, and see it as the same as changing worlds, new world new look.

this is going to happen sooner or later, and it's fine. offering conveniences or minions/mounts for real money is perfectly acceptable. P2W is where the line should be drawn, and honestly a STRICTLY p2p MMO with a P2W cash shop is basically unheard of.

there's nothing to be worried about, people dont need to be paranoid just because you're able to buy a few convenience or cosmetic features from SE.
