You still need to call out commands if something sudden happens that requires everyone to adjust. For all the complaining about using vent in certain games, I know we've been spared more than just a wipe due to being able to have orders issued on the spot.

And based on experience, the harder you make it to heal others, the less people willing to heal you will find.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

At what point did we ask for a broken combat system, a broken crafting system, no content, broken taming system, server-restarts and wipes every 24 hours, choppy animations, poorly designed world, etc etc? All of the points I just listed describe Mortal Online more accurately.

If you didn't know, your starting class is just what you wanna start out with and what kind of sould you want to have. You make you're own class since whatever skills you leve up depicts what type of damage and weapons you can use. Demons' Souls was a great game, and the combat was awesome. The grind was fun and the mobs were hard. I agree with him, Demons' Souls with some tweaking would be a great mmo.
I don't think Demon's Souls had a grind. There were a couple of times I farmed souls to power up my character, but that's a lot different from an Everquest-styled grind like the one in FFXIV. In FFXIV, you basically do one of a few types of guildleves over and over for hours and hours and hours. I've been doing it a couple hours here and there since the game came out and I'm Rank 43 - that was over 6 months ago. But Demon's Souls has worlds, and you go straight through clearing enemies off the map. They don't respawn. So you see what I mean by there not being a grind? You can experience the whole game without a forced leveling curve (grind).

Also gifthorse, I'm into your definition of a dynamic world.

The MMO of my dreams would be a melting between Final Fantasy and Star Ocean.

    Star Ocean for:
    - His combos system, all members feeding a combo chain would be so fun <3
    - His awesome amazing skills
    - His big stats 70K HP /50K MP
    - For a reward for discovery,
in SO3, every steps you make (every moves you make;;;i'll be watching you.../o/) you discover a % of the map. When you've discovered 100% of the map, you obtain a trophy, in a MMO the trophy could be a better movments speed in the area.

    Final Fantasy:
    - For environment design
    - For characters design
    - His races, would love being able to see/play a lot of race Viera, Nu'moh, Moogles, Vangaa, Aegyls, Ronsos, Guados...so much posssibilities.
    - The story
    - For background
    - The craft
    - Gathring
    - Cut scenes
    - Music
    - Sound
    ...

It's not in FF or SO

But I would like to be able to ride more than Chocobo.
But riding a lot of monsters.
Saddles would be crafted and rapired by leather work,
And when the saddle is used, you can't ride your monster
Each step would use the pet/saddle, cause a slower movments speed.
Or riding a monster would use them, and they would be "repaired" healed by culinarians in the stable zone in the merchant market.

Oh and I would like a new aquan race, and the ability to explore an undersea world.

    And the ability to fly!!!

    No forced PvP
A lot of instances points based items, and only a few based on low drop rate

Oh no don't get me wrong, the MMO I'm mentioning (which will be unnamed) has some AoE healing and some HoT. And I will definately be one of those healers.
And also, I like chatting. Hell, I play an xbox and party chat all the time. The whole reason my ps3 collects dust

An MMO where there is no tank, healer, dps dynamics....instead its a group of people fighting together, but they have to take care of themselves in battle too. Your responsible for your own health! think of it like PvP, but its PvE...this would require a very smart AI system. A mage could do powerful burst damage but have to make sure they at a very far range when attacking...and once the enemy gets in their face they have to go invisible or something and reposition themselves far away from the enemy before they start attacking again....
    Warriors > Rouges > Mages > Warriors
you would have to pick your enemies wisely and rely on your allys to take out mobs that are to hard for you to take out.

And quest based leveling but each class can do quests different than others...like rouges can sneak into a castle and steal an item off a boss without every fighting anything as long as they stealthy enough and get xp from turning in the quest...a paladin or warrior can intimidate enemies through talking to them and make enemies give up the item...or you can just kill everything and get it the old fashioned way.....give more options you know?

guess im thinking of a game kinda like elder scrolls that is turned into a MMO or something.

But it would be nice to have a story and feel of an offline game when soloing and sidequest/leveling up would be group based....

    just an idea

It's interesting to see the diversity and complete want of consistency between features people actually want. There are some people who like the traditional asian single-player RPGs, and others who appear to like the polar opposite of that.

Ability to solo until 20. Group based leveling after rank 20. Leveling off of mobs à lieu des quests. Pulling would be nice, like a class dedicated to pulling instead of just "anyone can pull who feels like beating this mob." Stationary camping would feel intrinsic to the game, and mobs could be pulled, kited, or janked on rocks (yes I said it!) This game would have class uniqueness and if it had a system called "the armory system", it would severely limit cross class to certain abilities to increased class uniqueness. Physical level stats would automatically increase, and would reassign for changing classes.

I've grinded in demon souls, but it was self-imposed, meaning I've ground in Demon Souls the amount I ground in XI, but XI makes you do that to other games I think. Dark souls is gonna be harder supposedly yay ^^. Anyways, I don't know if I'm down for a serious grind, but in this game right now the grind feels more serious than it is after rank 35 or so :/ and its kind of a drag.

My perfect mmo? Oh man it would have customization everywhere, costumes, player housing, possibly abilities. I am all about the customization, as for gameplay mechanics? I'd steal just about every mission type from other games that wouldnt conflict with eachother (Public quests, instanced dungeons, open dungeons, competetive missions etc etc.)

Demon's souls is totally not all grind, you can beat the game at a very low rank if you rescue Sage Freke early( pretty easy to do) and get his protection spell making a lot of the boss fights in the game rather trivial, or just beast the game, but if you want to grind the option is there i guess.
