    Anyways, speaking for myself:

-Less emphasis on creating a fantasy 'game' and more emphasis on creating a fantasy 'world'

-Almost entirely player-driven features (economy, questing, conflict, drama, story) but with NPCs to help stabilise systems where appropriate

-A world steeped in lore but a world where players are able to change the future, thereby creating their own lore

-Dynamic world that keeps players guessing (migration of mobs, nomadic "beastmen", NPCs that have individual motivations and can change the world as much as players)

-Able to create your own class by combining skills

-Abilities are balanced to create diversity

    -Architecture is itself a craft

-Heirarchy of players (Nations, Alliances, Cities, Guilds, Parties with complex systems in place) and territorial control

-Mutiny systems in place to destabilise "zerg guilds" from claiming too much power

-Overarching struggle for dominion and resources by nations, but on a player-to-player level, there is still lots of social aspects to the game

-Aesthetically pleasing design of races, equipment, and world. No tacky things allowed! I've had enough blue hair and glowing weapons for a life time.

-Oh, and the game must have no large instances

-And it needs to have multiple modes of movement (jumping, climbing, walking, running, sprinting, swimming, swinging)

-And there needs to be many ruins for exploration and tomb-raiding, and treasure-hunting.

-Oh, and combat system has to be FUN!

I fully admit myself in the really lame category I'd name the AD of IX Christian Lorenz-Schauer (no one probably knows who he is here anyway) or the unique way in which the weapons give players skills in IX but it's just easier to refer to IX. Duh. And I want story content in an MMO like in XI or any single player rpg out there. Because it's an MMO I'm not willing to put up with lesser quality standards when it comes to quests and story progression.

    • The world isn't covered in things that want to eat/kill you. The world should be relatively safe until you venture to completely uncivilized regions.
    • Multiple travel options: mounts, ships, airships, caravans.
    • Skill-based progression, no classes or levels.
    • Motion-captured animations.
    • Exquisite character design. No two characters will look alike.
    • Realistic clothing (yet appropriate for the setting), fantasy armor.
    • A full crafting system with two modes (quantity, for skilling up and materials, that requires that you only have the materials; and quality, that requires effort on your part to create high-grade items).
    • A first-person viewpoint (toggleable) that has body awareness - I should be able to see my weapon in my hand, not have attacks magically appear out of midair.
    • A world where my race, gender, skill selection, and equipment matter to the NPCs and make a difference in my interactions with them.
    • A fame/infamy system that also affects your interaction with the world. This reputation should also be reliant on both skill selection and past deeds.
    • World interaction that is more involved than just killing things. Let me help run cities, social events, businesses.
    • A complete player housing system is an absolute must, and it should be non-instanced: all the various yet useless buildings that normally populate MMOs should be purchasable by players.
    • There is no end game, because there are no levels, and progress is mostly horizontal.
    • The goals in the game are more involved that simply striving for shinier gear.
    • A market system that has player run stores that compete with both players and NPCs.

    Edit: Updated
I'd say about 3/4 of those points describe Mortal Online xD (which kinda bombed >.>)

I'm going to be lame I guess because I can't be bothered to go into too much detail so FFXI-2 not a straight clone with better graphics, I expect it be an evolution.

Take the best parts of FFXI and build on them, make them better. Take the annoying parts and rework them, then add in some fresh ideas, mix it all together and I would have my perfect MMO which would keep me busy until the next FF MMO.

Sorry I thought the title of this thread was "Describe YOUR perfect MMO" not "describe your perfect MMO and then have someone troll you for it" >.>

as much as i love fallout and their great storytelling ... they are known for their bugs

I must be straightforward: A Sci-fi Ewok-based MMO with a Unicorn cash shop, and mixing prominent elements from Maple Story and Ailods Online. Also plays on the iPad.

Can anyone say 500 million subscribers overnight?

A game that gives us Garuda in all her hotness, minus the aggravating grind.
