New Character Creation

Problem is that people are making all 8 characters on the same server which is congesting the servers. I understand they pay to be allowed to do this but because they are doing this it is preventing all others from making characters on that server. Personally I think they should have only allowed one on each server, maybe 2. That would lighten the load on the servers, allow more to play with their friends, and people would only have to pay the 13 bucks a month that those who can make 1 pay. Now I understand there are some people that are going to flame this post of mine because they dont agree and a majority are going to be the ones I like to call "Server Hogs" and dont care about the other people wanting to play on a server with their friends. This is their opinion and their choice and regardless who agrees with it, it does not matter. Lets just hope the servers get a boost LARGE enough to compensate these individuals and allow us to actually play with our friends.

Having multiple characters on the same server doesn't really cause congestion. Unless you're logged in on all 8 characters at the same time, which I don't believe is possible, then each character merely takes up storage space. The congestion is caused by high population. I have trouble believing that everyone is congested around the starting area, and it's also hard to believe that the server is at its maximum capacity at 2 in the morning. It must be awful trying to play during peak hours if the slowest hours are still full capacity.

I really just wish SE would give some kind of comment on the matter.

Can I create a character somewhere else and get a free migration later?

Can I get an extra week beyond the free week already given to us because I still can't play for their own sever instability?

Can I get an estimated time of availability for when these servers will be allowing character creation?

I'm expecting a 'No' for the first two, but because there is absolutely no comment on any of these questions, I'm just sitting around twiddling my thumbs on the forums...

Dont make any sense
Character info is stored in data banks, they dont transmit data to the server unless logged in , if that happened it would be quite useless and inefficient
If idle logged off characters transmitted such info WoW servers would need a small town in terms of space

Their argument of locking up character creation is quite weak tho, there are not even queues anymore most of the time in most servers, they are only stopping the income of new people

Locking character creation was an absolutely stupid idea and one that isn't going to solve the problem of server population. At this point it is probably too late for a real solution, like log-in queues, since those people who would be willing to move servers because of a queue are not higher level and would be unwilling to move.

Square needs to take a free market approach and let the server populations fix themselves instead of imposing character locks that at this rate will never go away.

What is this, the second or third week and we're still not able to create new characters on those locked servers?

I think I've reached the point of simply not caring. I've lost almost all interest in this game due to all the botched decisions they've made and just find any time I spend looking into updates is just wasted time.

Some sort of message would be great. I'm not able to play with friends on Behemoth, so I'm playing a class I typically wouldn't play in case I can't transfer, when/if it ever opens.

Wonder if my wife's free game time is wasting away at the character creation screen waiting for Excalibur to open up...
