This level of stupid is astounding. Someone wanted to get on their high horse so badly they didnt bother to look at the very real issue.I suspect most players having gil problems are the same ones who port EVERYWHERE all the time. Porting is "luxury" travel. You can take favored ports and spend less than 5 minutes riding a chocobo to get places but people are lazy and spam-port themselves all over the place.
Meanwhile, those of us that have been careful with our income are supposed to be not rewarded because some of you can't budget your money? I'm not shocked by the laziness of these types. I fully expect you want unlimited spending and probably a free house too because you didn't plan to operate in a great economy. You want it easy like other games.

Macroeconomics is apparently a very foreign concept to most people.
I don't understand all of the intricacies, but it's pretty clear that eventually there will be a very big problem as more and more gil is funneled out of the economy.
I read the whole thread. I get it, I also believe many people squander money.
There's also a select group here (not all of you) that want: Run dungeon ---> sell stuff ---> repair gear ---> bank extra gil ---> wash, rinse, repeat. I do not want to see this. Other games (like EvE) have proved a game economy can be complex, interesting, player-driven, and robust.
EDIT: for clarity

The problem is these 3. You don't get enough stuff to sell to cover repairs, and that prevents the last. While a single person might get enough to cover their personal costs, the other 3 in party don't. This leads to a indefinite drain on the server as a whole.
Question: if a person plays perfectly (as in never ever dies), doesn't use teleport services, doesn't use the market board and does all their daily leves and only plays 3 hours per day, will he go minus?

From my understanding and personal experience: Dying is actually less of a drain on your gear than staying alive to kill hordes of enemies. That said, if you were to only do your daily leves, not die, and not teleport, then you'd net a gain, probably a substantial one over time.
