I've never understood how repair costs are fun in any game. It's an insulting and oppressive mechanic. Not once have I ever heard anyone say 'Oh man, I really like repairing my gear in this game!!! It keeps me so entertained!!!' I'd far rather pay a flat fee for entering a dungeon, than to have a random repair cost I can't gauge well until the battle is over.

I don't mind the gil faucet where it is... but the gil sink needs to be tuned a little. Sure, there are things you can do to save money... but they aren't that fun either. I can accept frugality as a necessary mechanic... but yeah, the sink needs a little tuning if you are going to leave the faucet on at this slow drip.

While it's true that playing the market is an easy way to make gil, the argument isn't about whether it's easy to earn gil from selling to other players. The discussion is about whether you can acquire sufficient gil from simply farming or running instances.

I've seen conflicting reports from level 50 players in this thread, where some say you lose money running instances and others say you gain money, so I've no idea what the real case is.

If a level 50 player reads this, mind letting us know if you lose money on a no-wipe run of a high-level instance? Assuming, of course, that you sell all your loot.

So much fail in this topic. the OP raises very good concern since as it is the economy is losing more than gaining, then we have people saying i make enough money through farming and yet not seeing as that has 0 relevance to the issue at hand. you farming and getting money from another player is actually still losing money in the economy because of the AH cut. the issue is that (repair, travel, AH cut etc) > (money generated at end game from NPC and World)

the people raising this have no issues getting money from other players but they are showing how this will lead to a place where you cannot sell stuff and even repair because people wont have the money to do so anymore.

Gold ores can be gathered in Eastern Thanalan with Miner for all people who want more gold.

About how many Leves/day are we talking here?
3000 gil would be 30k Gil in 1.0
A high level Leve in 1.0 gave around 7k gil
This would be 4-5 leves, am I right?

I think the amount of Gil coming in the economy is now more balanced than in 1.0

Really, the fast way to fix this would be to give us more Leve allowances and up the gold from dungeons and FATEs OR decrease the cost of repairs, travel, etc. In fact, an increase in the amount of Gil rewarded may cause too much inflation, no? A decrease may be in order!

I understand this but with crafting I am just over 1 mil Gil made so that balances out any Gil I lose in game. People just need to work on other things in this game to keep their gil up.

As long as what enters the world is proportional to what leaves we should be fine. The over all pie can't get smaller it has to at least stay the same.

Unbelievable, after 24 pages of reading you still fail to comprehend the predicament in this thread.

The OP questions whether the server will be experiencing a net gain or a net loss, of gil, once players cannot tap into quest rewards anymore.

How this can be misinterpreted as "how to make money on AH", is beyond me.

Frankly, the amount of economic illiteracy being shown in this thread is really starting to scare me here.

Folks, we're talking MACRO economics here, not MICRO economics.
