I think the idea was to offer both shorter and longer fights. If you want to fight something harder that takes longer, there's no reason not to allow it (as long as it's not required).
its not about if its required or not, its the feeling of "why pay for a game that i am not going to be able to fully play?" and ppl with shorter play periods are less likely to pay for a game that has content they are unable to play due to how long it takes to play it (IE: long fights)
That's a fair point.its not about if its required or not, its the feeling of "why pay for a game that i am not going to be able to fully play?" and ppl with shorter play periods are less likely to pay for a game that has content they are unable to play due to how long it takes to play it (IE: long fights)
I'm assuming the OP is just talking about offering some optional fights (either overworld or dungeon) that can go to, say, 15 (maybe 20?) minutes instead of 7-10 minutes? If that's the case, I don't think it's a large increase of time to spend overall.
If the battle is something that will take notably longer, say 30 minutes to an hour, then it would indeed be unreasonable to assume that all players could attempt and complete it.
