First off, Legacy servers are swimming in Gil that needs to 'disappear' in order to lower inflation. The newer servers aren't really harmed right now by a lower gil influx because they will establish around a lower norm. Secondly, there actually is plenty of money coming into the game at the moment. As of now, SE really expects players to be leveling classes/jobs, and doing the 1-50 content. That content easily provides enough items, gil, and gears for a player to have a solid little nest egg after fully leveling 1-2 classes to 50. SE will also continue to add content...content that will continue to feed the economy every time it is added/cleared. If everyone gets 50gil for completing a level 1 quest....and each server has 5000 con-current log ins, that is 250,000gil for that one quest, from just those 5000 people added to the economy right there. This all adds up.

I understand your concerns, I have been trying to point this out over the past few days and keep getting the same responses. People don't seem to understand the difference in personal wealth and the in-game economy.

Good luck with this, I have about given up on explaining it.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that noticed this, I started levelling my carpentry and noticed it was costing me a fortune, I decided to farm the ingredients myself and sell them on the market. The one thing I noticed is "cool I'm going to be rich" but what will happen once everyone has spent their gil? X.x There was no way for me to make gil (Unless I Gather,Craft) so how will everyone else make gil?

You keep saying that "you cannot generate more gil than you spend." I'll ask again. Where are you getting your information? Is it from your own personal experience? Because not everyone falls into this category. There are players who are adding gil to the economy. Maybe you should downgrade your gear until you figure out a solid way to support its repairs.

With the game having been released for 1 week, I believe that its far to soon to be overly concerned with the in game economy. That said, your argument has been echoed in MMOs past and is always a challenge deal with. There is no real way to fix the one aspect of the economy without effecting another. Many companies often employ economists to manage in game economies for this very reason. You can be sure that SE will be rolling out fixes to the economy as the players progress through the game. They have to analyze the trends you see. So, don't be so caught up on needed mechanics like AH fees and the like. Give them time.

would be cool if the coffer at the end of every dungeon had dropped a set amount of gil to be split among the party
surely that would fit a FF theme of being rewarded game currency "at the end of the battle"

From me and virtually every level 50. All of my gil is coming in from the marketplace. I'm losing gil everywhere else. The fact that you don't generate gil, and in fact lose it while dungeoning/grinding/ect is extremely worrisome for the stability of the economy.

Or if they just made the existing coffers in the dungeons drop appropriate level allagan(?) pieces. Love running level 50 dungeons to get 20ish bronze/tin pieces that dont sale for more than 1k gil.

Its not a quick way to get rich but here is my method.

I start by doing Battle Leves in Mor Dhona (Camp Revenant's Toll).
I equip gear I get from leves and spiritbond with them while acquiring even more gear.
Convert the gear you get into materia and bam! Profit. Plus a little change in your pocket.

Didn't mean to rhyme on that last part... Left it in cause it made me chuckle... lol

OP, I understand your concerns, but what makes you think this isn't working as intended?

If gil is scarce, people will have to spend less of it--otherwise they have less of it. Less gil to spend means lower prices, consistent to the amount of gil a player is able to reasonably acquire. The economy will adjust as it needs to, as it's intended to do. There's no evidence to support the theory that the current rate of "total server gil" degradation is detrimental.
