Can't we just make the battle system like FFXI's?

Am I the only one here who hated FFXI's battle system?

I'd rather have the FFXII or FFXIII battle system TBH. FFXII's system, excluding Gambits, was almost made for an MMO. Gambits were just to take the place of a would-be PC party.

Agreed. Dont see why there's this obsession with FFXI's extremely slow combat.... It #&@$@ sucked! The current battle system is WAY better than FFXI's as it is (Uh oh, Opinion!), and it is only going to get better - Not going to rewind to FFXI ways.

FFXI's battle system wasn't the one that needed to be completely reworked. Uh oh! Fact!

It also had lower standards, being released in 2002 (2001 in Japan) and all.

Yes, but if it was truly that bad I'm certain the game wouldn't still be going nine years later.

No, but if it was released now it would probably catch huge criticism for being slow and clunky, especially after people experienced FFXII and FFXIII.

EDIT: Anyways, this is pointless arguing. FFXIV needs a new battle system either way and FFXI's battle system wouldn't work very well.

Hey if there's a niche it could catch on. Just look at Megaman 9.

While I really enjoy FFXI's battle system I will agree that copying it isn't the way to go for FFXIV. They SHOULD learn from it, but I already have an FFXI account for that stuff and would like something new (and just as good) from FFXIV.

I didn't hate FFXI's battle system it was fine for me but I would much prefer FFXIII's even with the same UI layout for selecting attacks, skills, spells and abilities which was basically an updated/flashier version of FFXI's. It even had an auto attack button and a stamina bar which worked great.
