Don't play mmos at launch if you can't handle problems. Stop asking for unrealistic things, not everything is fixable just because you want it to. Vote with your wallet.

It's not unrealistic if they go about server testing properly. A lot of companies often do stress test betas, the problem is almost no company does enough of that to properly learn how their server infrastructure scales. They need to find the effects of adding servers to each cluster; how much capacity grows, where diminishing returns kicks in, etc. That kind of thing can't be learned over just one weekend, and that's why most MMOs have server problems, because they find out the hard way that their single short stress test wasn't enough.

Seriously. Its so disappointing and even upsetting at time to see how malicious this community has come even just since Phase 4. Frustrations are bound to happen when a game launches. Almost no MMO launches smoothly. Its disturbing to see how many NA/EU players feel entitled to rewards for doing their job as a player and working through game issues as a dedicated player. Guess what, you get to play the game. This amazing MMO. THAT is your reward. No one is entitled to special treatment because they suffered a bit of downtime in the game. Boo hoo. Get over it and start supporting the devs like the rest of us. D: They really need some rest. ; ; Poor Yoshida.

What do you gain for making threads like this? Do you work for SE? Have they been so good to you that you decided to take time off your work/family/leisure time to write a 1,000-word essay about how amazing, great, and cool an individual that you have never met, will most likely never meet in your entire life, and who doesn't even know you exist actually happen to be?

What moral authority do you think you have to come here on public forums yelling and basically insulting those (what you said was a long-winded insult with tons of words; it's just difficult to discern) who share a different opinion of you, not even about the game (that's the creepy part), but about Yoshi-p in particular.

You may think that by being a proud White Knight you're doing a favor to this game but people with totalitarian tendencies such as yourself would ban half the forum if they were given the chance to. If you want a community where only positive criticism is allowed with giving the illusion that of also partaking in critical criticism about certain aspects of the game (one thread every 3 months talking about superficial gripes about the game... I know your type) then create your own website instead of using a public forum to perform free propaganda for a guy who certainly doesn't need any right now.

Our only job as players is to play the game, and a lot of people can't do that. Our job as consumers is to hold companies accountable for their missteps. Their job as a company is to ensure they release a working product, and server capacity/bandwidth is a key role in that.

People are often too hyperbolic/vitriolic but the bottom line is that server issues count against the game because it directly prevents a paid product from working. "B-but it happens to other MMO launches!" isn't an excuse, it's a cop-out. We as consumers should't be playing Defense Force and act as apologists for a company's mistakes. The Squenix infrastructure team had months of squandered opportunity to study the server impact of increasing numbers of players, but they very obviously didn't. This isn't some slight against Yoshi-P or his team, because they did a great job and it's a shame that it's being hurt so badly by these server issues. But the harsh reality is that it's all part of the same product.

I couldn't play wow for like the whole first month in between the constant maintenance and crashes. when I did managed to get in, I\\\\'d get stuck in the looting animation. Content bugs everywhere. At least in this game when you managed to get in, the game actually worked. I\\\\'m sick and tired of people here crying about an mmo launch not working 100 percent. Seriously, go cry somehow else.

You are seriously comparing this launch with a launch made 9 years ago?

Yes, this is not the worst launch in the history of gaming, that doesnt make this a good launch either.

The problem is that this launch is having problems because the company was greedy and didnt have enough hardware, not because of unexpected bugs.

It makes no sense to buy more servers than anticipated because population always drops after first month, what are they going to do with all the extra servers?

This is wrong, it does makes sense, its called having respect for your playerbase. With the remainng servers you could leave them as backup servers, or you could use them in your next online game launch, or you could sell them used to another company.

What makes no sense is setting up less servers than what you need, knowing your playerbase will have problems at launch, just because you will earn more money because some of them will ineviotably leave.

If i would not get banned for it, this would be the part where i would heavily insult every Whiteknight, SquareEnix employee, Yoshi-P, and their families.

I wish there was a video of Yoshi being insulted in the worst way by some frustrated player - with Yoshi tearing up badly.

But i only have this, where he is kind of crying because of relief and joy. But it will have to do.
