Yes i agree. Those would be great additions to salvage from FFXI as long as they worked on it and not just copy/paste.
Skillchains and Magic Bursts were great things about FFXI but after some years and releases it became no point in using for most content. It also was alot easier to understand(i'm still kinda confused about the battle regimen).

Oh there's definately features from XI that would make nice additions, just take into account the ones that will step on the least amount of toes first. We want this game to be fun for everyone.

I just hope ppl become happy with what they get. I think having too high expectations help in the "failur launch" of ffxiv. I agree quests should have been in game. A end game event such as dynamis should been in game.
I agree with yoshida-san, when you release new mmo you need to raise the bar of how much is in it at launch. Your pulling players from established mmo.

But I understood that tech problems since beta prevent a lot of the better content to be put on hold. Which no one seems to talk about. I personally don't feel the game was rushed. Just had a hiccup that should have been fixed.

But I'm happy they have a long time mmo gamer as the new leader. He knows what we want. As he wants it himself.

I like the new npc quest markers. It is classy and makes it feel like a video game. I want to see the new aggro markers personally. I do like the idea of them. In ffxi I had issues with aggro. I was the aggro queen. I know ppl cry about immersion, but a help for those new/not good at the game.

Do what makes sense not what's interesting.

Don't add a 5th wheel to a car because it looks unique.

FF14's whole issue is throw ideas at stuff that fail the implementation test as well as the practicality test.

pretty much....here is what happens. I don't see mobs pop near me all the time so dome indicator is helpful if I'm running between cities I can "see" what to avoid in advance. I take risks in mmo. Even WoW has some aggro thing come up. Like the icon when you aggro a mob and it does a chim.

Remember this is a video game. Meant to be enjoyed. Not a religion. If you want immersion, role play. Turn off the names, walk, and only "level up" for a few game hours each game day. (not trying to be rude as I love role playing. )

1st step to having a successful MMORPG

    1. Implement something to do.

You now have a successful mmorpg.

Thats gonna be FFXIV's salvation. Most of the players onFFXIV are FFXI veterans and those who left will most likely not come back. Particularly those with WoW roots. As a FFXI veteran myself who still loves FFXI, 14 gave me what i wanted: better visuals and more mithras ! Unfortunately it takes a bit more than that.
