thios doesnt make sense you seem to say that in 14 your know who is the owner of the retainer and able to know its not an rmt , me personally if i was making alot of dusk glove and need behemoth hides i would look at the ""SALES HISTORY"" and directly contact player to get mats when they are available you make no sense brah

I'm not saying you know who the owner is, but if a retainer is spotted dealing strangely, price hiking etc, then their name can spead, just as if it was a player character.

If you look further down the post, I do say that I'd like to see player names linked to good being sold rather than doing everything through retainers anyway.

Why can't the auction house just work like it does in eBay and people bid until time runs out? Then we can still do retainers for people who want to buy right now instead of waiting for auction.

Why not have both, and just keep the auction house strictly for timed bidding?

The reason theres a retainer with a name different from your characters is so people can not harass you. One of the things bots did in XI was scan the Auction house for people who just bought items then spam gil spam directly to that player.

Eh... so I typed out this thing about how text boxes are kind of neat for searching, but decided against it. Maybe SE should just eat the sunk costs on this project, fire the entire team, beg the shareholders not to sue them, and call it quits.

AH does help build community 100% based on what the person said above. You can see people selling and know who to message and also that is how crafters become so well known and like in FFXI if they add some way to sign your name to armor that would be a big deal to some people. Retainer wards only way if you know if a retainer is linked to someone is if by chance they have a similar name and even then it may not be linked to the person in question. People say that is not a valid point but you can't deny the facts.

Wards are tedious and boring. Auction houses are quick and simple. This argument is in the Auction House favor. However, SE has more important things to do at the moment because the Market Ward system, unfortunately, works for right now.

If they implement an AH, then I hope it's not the FFXI style of auction house. The limited AH slots and price history led to the rapid deflation and manipulation of certain items.

Please explain how I can contact a retainer's owner if I don't know who the owner is, or how I can find a retainer's owner.
