* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I've been to busy to actually read novels and books lately.
But I do listen to audiobooks on audible when I drive and exercise.
Anyway.
I don't know why she made a stink about me using WoW as an example. Apparently over 12 million people play so at least one person would understand the example I was trying to make.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
was a good read. And op is correct about the classes. Simply put, we change our classes just by changing our weapon. And we can use the abilities we learned on other classes. Unlike ffxi or other mmo, where our job and classes have set skills and abilities. Unless this changes, then it hasn't changed.

Nice post Cairdeas. ^-^ It was a good read.

Is the fatigue system really being removed?
Fatigue or Surplus? Fatigue as in gathering fatigue, not the reduced gain in SP.

I know what it is :P People tend to use the terms fatigue and surplus interchangeably. But in the case of DoLs, it means 2 different things; SP Surplus (pacing measure as you call it) and gathering fatigue (i.e. the limit on the items you can gather over a certain time).
Maybe SE themselves should come up with clearly distinct terms for the 2. *shrug*

If they called the SP system Rested XP no one would have complained :PI know what it is :P People tend to use the terms fatigue and surplus interchangeably. That's an oversimplification. The surplus/fatigue system in FFXIV is nothing like the "rested" XP system in those other MMO's that have it.
In no other game does grinding eventually reduce your experience earned to zero. Yes, it only happens to those few crazy enough to do it (or cheat their way to it), but it is still there.
Fatigue is not "rested SP becoming normal SP". It is "Normal SP becoming penalized SP, with the penalty increasing over time". This goes beyond semantics.
If it truly was Rested XP, they would have called it that.
You are absolutely correct about nomenclature. SE needs to bring some brand recognition to the game. Most people still call Lalafell Tarus, Miqo'te Mithra, and Roegadyn Galkas.
If shortened names are what you're looking for, call 'em Lalas, Miqos, and Roegs.
