You're really going to fall back on the .dat files to prove your point? What so just because we are at R50 means we can never get any new skills?
They can keep implementing new skills and spells without raising cap. I still fail to see your point.

lol no the points is that we will not be stuck at 50 forever.
Obvious reason is that SE do not want us to be all level 99 before all the PS3 players gets their hands on the game. (if ever)
My 2nd point, there's no reason for FFXIV to be worse than FFXI by staying at 50 forever.
The intention was to increase the cap sooner or later thats already a fact from the current dat file information.
How more obvious could it be?
I have no rush to reach level 99 (or w/e), idk about everyone else thou.
3rd point at the current max rank... there isnt enogh Slots / points to put in abilitys / Spells....
Im having trouble as it is to decide wich spells i need for what type of battle, its gets annoying
sometimes having to set new spells etc a minute later.
So at this point...i really would hate to have even more spells and abilities.
Last point... Maximum party size.
As it is right now, mobs in coerthas / Mordhona can still do massive damage to a full
party because of the level cap. (well now we have the l33t noob bonus to help us out)
Now should they nerf the mobs or let us progress normally when level cap is removed or raised?
Obviously the areas we have now, are not all they have planned for us, and hell....
um ya...i dont want to be gimp r50 going up against a Behemoth some day.

I dont think they'd let this happen but one of the huge problems (or blessings) of champions online is that you get so many power choices that by the end of the game your character can pretty much preform any role. I dont mean any role as in they can switch between them. I mean do all of them at once, damage deal/self heal/tank/crowd control.

I have little doubt that when they raise the cap they will smooth out the leveling curve which really will make most previous content easy mode or bypassable. 1-20 is already insanely fast. And with a cap raise 1-50 probably will be too.

if they didnt raise the cap you'd still have to work for other things they added like new skills/armor, I dont think gift wants everything for free.




i agree tezz. i wasn't saying i wanted a big jump either. i was just saying we would have to let the development team decide when would be the proper time to do so and allow that decision to be based off what kind of content they had ready at the time.
yeah, i thing they will make 1-50 faster once cap raises also so that the casual base can do the content the rushers/hardcores have already done which is perfectly fine with me.
i personally am not one that really cares about the clout of having a capped class, but i would like the chances at revenge on the higher mobs. i just don't want to see them get nerfed so i could get it. i remember how hollow it felt after the antling diggers were nerfed to get revenge on them after the times i got shot running through ud. i want to get stronger to get even with goobbue, the drakes, and the gobblin headmen. i just don't want to be given the chance to get even just because they got weaker. i want to get even because i got stronger.

Exactly, you can add more content to the game without raising cap, so what is the point? I repeat, what is the point if it achieves nothing besides adding more grind to the game which players have already shown a disliking for.
Also, why can't we question SE's intentions? They don't exactly have a glowing track record.

And if it's so inconvenient to switch classes and have to reassign abilities, then that is a problem the UI team have to intervene to fix. It is not a reason to justify having more ranks.

I'm sorry but increasing rank is just a security blanket for those who don't want to get better. And yes, if there are mobs in the game that cannot be defeated at the game's level cap, obviously those need readjusting (we don't want another Absolute Virtue moment).

oh god absolute virtue was the worst thing to happen to video games until cash shops migrated to non mmos.
This is hyperbole but AV really was some developer's ego spiralling out of control when players deigned to beat his last creation.

Behemoth cast Thundaga II on Noomy Laughlyn... (i think at this point i'd be beyond dead & crusty, but in any case..)
Noomy Laughlyn's Thunder II hits behemoth for ....a who0ping 20 points of damage.
There's no challenge in "Gimp" down mobs, if want to get better...
get stronger, lear more, Ungimp us!
Or be plain lazy and stay at 50 if its too much trouble getting out there grinding yo butt off.

Um... I hope you realised as you were writing that that it made no sense. I'm going to condescend to writing this in bullet-point format because I think it helps get the message across to people like yourself. The ideal is that:
- SE keeps cap at R50
- They introduce level-appropriate bosses and mobs
- The bosses still have the ability to scale in difficulty
- Difficulty is defined by skill not rank/stats
Everyone who's anyone knows that content is better than grind. SE already made the mistake once.
