XAtsh sure when you read it like THAT it might sound stupid. But I don't see that's the fault of the writer of the review.

I think it's hilarious and annoying that people alway pull out the SIDE-quest card. "Sure we can put up with any garbage quality as they're name is SIDE-quests..."

Honestly who cares, bad content is bad. Yes XI quests (yes I see the difference between XI missions and quests too!) had some trash quests like XIV does but the only problem is that it's the ONLY kind of quests XIV has. While I'm at it XI missions have 90% more gameplay than XIV missions most of which is just running around watching (incredible) cutscenes. Then again XIV quests have 0% cutscenes so that's a win-lose situation.

pretty much a reviewer who don;t know wtf they talking about. Not all lore deals with the main story but the world itself. I really haye when ppl confuse the 2.
aka seif trying to be funny.... But failed in doing so.

No i read the review... And read it as just an rpg fan. Any rpg fan knows not all side quests in any rpg are linked to the main story. Which is his complaint and only part I was commenting on. Most side quests in rpg/mmorpg are mini stories to help you understand the realm the game is in.

Like my fav oblivion side quest was sherrogoraths daedra quest from his statue. He wanted you to go to an all khajit town and create choas. And you did. It had nothing to do with the main story line, but was part of the lore of the realm.

And from what I read on a few sidequests in ffxiv they are set up just like that. Not really part of the main story but tell tales about the realm.

the review is dead on. this game has been out 6 months and he gave a review of what has been released at 6 months after release. they can say this and that is coming, but at the rate things are being added we may be getting a 5 year review and still none of these changes are implemented.

the fact is in 6 months there have been very few things added that will bring in new players nor give a reason for the players here now to stay. yoshi was thrown into i ship with a leak and instead of working on fixing the holes he is running the whole ship into a mountainside to assist it in sinking.

MMO reviews are subject to the reviewer and I slighty agree with them on this one. Game is still being worked on and in a Beta like phase at the moment. I wouldn't say the changes justified a second look just yet though, but hey it's been a long enough time for them to have a look back and see whats changed.

explanations do not change the fact that this review is about the game 6 months after release. it's hard for a reviever to give a review on items that are not implemented yet anymore than we can say how great/horrid they are until we play it.

I don't see what there is to discuss or argue about here. The reviewer gives a simple description of facts for the most part. The only thing that can be said against it is that a re-review right now is hasty, and is like beating on a dead horse(-bird.)

You can't ignore that there's little wrong in what he says, though. SE isn't following some sort of direction, they're just implementing stuff based on more or less sparse ideas. What the game needs is character and identity and that's the only thing that can't be seen coming from the devs right now.

Still, i am confident in the game's future because of the latest side-quests and the promise of more elaborate quests.
Just hoping big things don't get messed up meanwhile.
