I do see your point but if you were an editor and just knew that a game has had 2 patches/month for half a year then I think it's fair to assume something has changed and the game is worth re-reviewing. Honestly I'm surprised more re-reviews haven't popped up.

they didn't fix major issues yet (combat system, attributes, skills, etc)

all they did is "adjustment"

The review sites don't personally care about the game, they do a re-review because they think their readers may wish an update on a game that has been out for 6 months, 6 months being an eternity for a release on an MMO that didn't launch well.

The re-review wasn't done to paint 14 in a better picture, it was done to show what changes had been made in half a year since release. Very few other sites will ever re-review the game on pc.

So basically this is what I got out of the review.

"The quest suck because they are not designed for leveling which is the new industry standard, I played all the great mmos WoW:Vinalla, WoW:Burning Crusades, WoW:Wrath of the Leach King, and WoW:Catacylsm, I even started playing WoW:Rift and they all have quest leveling ffxiv fails at making quest and storyline. Square's quest are all great in writing but since they give no xp/sp from completing them they are pointless. SE needs to learn that good story writing is a pointless waste of time when all people want is the XP.

I also have no clue about the storyline of FFXIV or the purpose of sidequest.. or let along the meaning of a sidequest. I got to rank 20 and all I can say is WoW the storyline sucks I mean seriously hippie forest people, corrupt uldah people, or ARG! pirates... fail storyline is fail. The side quest keep talking about an army to the north which has nothing to do with any of the 3 storyline missions I finished so the quest have nothing to do with anything going on. I mean it is almost like the quest are telling us about the lives and dealing with the people in the cities, instead of a SIDE QUEST being the main focal point of the story telling.

I see they changed sp and party size, but guess what they added no content. It is obvious SE has been doing nothing these past 6 months. I would pissed if I played this game alot considering they changed the party size and have not even started on content yet.

I just do not understand why square doesn't just copy paste another mmos success I mean WoW is right there with 13million subs and even FFXI has a player base... they need to do what everyone else does and just follow WoW's example."

When you read it like this you begin to question if reviewers even have any merit anymore, why would you rereview the game when the dev specifically says there will be no major content updates until the new battle system in place.

The thing is, we don't know what changes have been made until they are implemented. Since it's going to take only a month until they are implemented, waiting a bit more wouldn't have been too much asked.

Any review before the major updates are done is ultimately a waste of time.

Dungeons are being added, classes are potentially all changing, quest are continually being added, Nms are being added, instanced content is being added, new zones are being added, companys are being added, and several other things the devs have mentioned.

The game we see now most likely is not what we will see at the end of the summer.

Exactly. Wait until they start charging for the game at least. This review was pretty much worthless at this point in time. Plus, you all know what they say about opinions.

Bottom line, the game is being redesigned. It takes time. We're getting to play the game for free and use our feedback to help form the future of the game. This is essentially an on-going beta test. It's a huge task and SE is no doubt working on it as fast as they can. They have to if they want to save the game.

Nothing to see here folks. Plea for publicity from RPGfan, at best.
